How to log in to DataWorks as a RAM user and update personal information - DataWorks

Learn how to log in to DataWorks as a RAM user, update your personal information, and create a workspace.

Prerequisites

Before using DataWorks as a RAM user for the first time, ensure you have the following information:

The enterprise alias for the RAM user's Alibaba Cloud account.
The RAM user's username and password.
DataWorks no longer requires an AccessKey pair. However, if your use case requires one, an Alibaba Cloud account can create an AccessKey ID and AccessKey Secret for the RAM user.
The Alibaba Cloud account must have console logon enabled for the RAM user.

If you cannot confirm this information, ensure that the RAM user's Alibaba Cloud account meets the following requirements:

All required configurations and information for the RAM user are prepared, as described in Create a RAM user.
The Alibaba Cloud account has created a workspace and added the RAM user as a workspace member with an appropriate role, as described in Create a workspace and Add workspace members.

Log in to DataWorks

Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Management Console by using the login URL provided by the Alibaba Cloud account.
The Alibaba Cloud account can log on to the RAM console and copy the RAM user login URL to provide it to the RAM user. For more details on logging in as a RAM user, see Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Management Console as a RAM user. The RAM user login URL is in the Account Management section on the right side of the RAM console Overview page. The URL format is https://signin.aliyun.com/<default-domain-name>.onaliyun.com. Click Copy to obtain the URL.
On the Alibaba Cloud Management Console homepage, search for DataWorks and go to the DataWorks console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Data Development and O&M > DataStudio.
Note
- On the Work space page in the DataWorks console, a RAM user can see only the workspaces that they have joined.
- If the workspace list is empty, contact the administrator of the workspace that you want to join. The administrator can add you to a workspace on the Management Center > Work space > Workspace Members page. For more information, see Manage permissions on workspace-level services.
- If you need to create workspaces, the Alibaba Cloud account must attach the AliyunDataWorksFullAccess policy to your RAM user. For more information, see Grant permissions to a RAM user to create DataWorks workspaces.
Select a workspace that you have permissions for and click Data Analytics.

Note

A DataWorks login session is valid for 48 hours. However, RAM settings for your Alibaba Cloud account impose a maximum login session duration of 24 hours. After 24 hours, you can still perform limited operations, such as editing and saving SQL statements, on any open DataWorks pages. If you try to access a new page or perform other actions, the system notifies you that the session has expired and you must log in again.

Update your personal information

Configure your personal information on the Alert Contacts page in DataWorks. This information is used to send alerts for node failures during development and governance, helping you identify and resolve issues quickly.

Go to the DataWorks console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Others > Alert Contacts. For more information, see View and set alert contacts.

Create a workspace

To create a workspace, the Alibaba Cloud account must attach the AliyunDataWorksFullAccess policy to the RAM user. For more information, see Grant permissions to a RAM user and Create a workspace.
