AnalyticDB:Scale up or down the Data Lakehouse Edition

Last Updated:Aug 24, 2026

You can scale up or down the reserved computing resources and reserved storage resources of an AnalyticDB for MySQL Data Lakehouse Edition cluster based on your business requirements.

Prerequisites

  • Your Alibaba Cloud account does not have unpaid renewal orders.

  • The Data Lakehouse Edition cluster is in the Running state.

Billing

For more information, see Billing of configuration changes.

Usage notes

You cannot change a Data Lakehouse Edition cluster to a Data Warehouse Edition cluster.

Time required for configuration changes

  • Scaling operations redistribute and migrate data. The migration time is proportional to the data volume.

  • When you scale down a cluster from a large specification to a small specification, data migration usually takes hours or even tens of hours. Exercise caution when scaling down a cluster with a large data volume.

  • After a configuration change is triggered, you can view the progress on the Cluster List page or the Task Center page in the console.

Impact of configuration changes

  • During scaling, SUBMIT JOB asynchronous task submissions are disabled. If your business depends on this feature, schedule scaling during off-peak hours.

  • When scaling is about to complete, brief connection interruptions may occur. We recommend that you perform scaling during off-peak hours or ensure that your application has an automatic reconnection mechanism.

  • Elastic plans and manual configuration changes cannot occur at the same time. If an elastic plan is enabled for a cluster and you need to manually change the cluster configuration, you must first disable the elastic plan. Otherwise, the manual configuration change fails. After the manual configuration change is complete, re-enable the elastic plan.

Scale up

  1. Log on to the AnalyticDB for MySQL console, and select the region where the cluster resides in the upper-left corner. In the left-side navigation pane, click Cluster List. Above the Cluster List, select the product series, and then click Scale Up on the right side of the target cluster.

  2. On the Change Configuration page, configure Reserved Computing Resources, Reserved Storage Resource Node Specification, Reserved Storage Resources, or Cloud Disk Level.

    Note

The reserved storage resource specification can be changed to 8 ACU, 12 ACU, or 16 ACU. If you select 24 ACU or higher, submit a ticket to contact technical support.

  3. For a Subscription cluster, read and accept the service agreement, click Buy Now, confirm the unpaid order information and payment method, and then click . For a Pay-As-You-Go cluster, read and accept the service agreement, and then click Buy Now.

Scale down

  1. Log on to the AnalyticDB for MySQL console, and select the region where the cluster resides in the upper-left corner. In the left-side navigation pane, click Cluster List. Above the Cluster List, select the product series, and then click More > Scale Down on the right side of the target cluster.

  2. On the Scale Down page, configure the cluster settings based on your business requirements.

    Configuration

    Description

    Reserved Computing Resources

    • If the reserved storage resources of the Data Lakehouse Edition cluster you purchased are 0 ACU and the reserved computing resources in the resource group are also 0 ACU, you can scale down to 0 ACU.

    • You can scale down the reserved computing resources of a cluster only when the total reserved computing resources in the resource group is less than or equal to the target reserved computing resources after scaling. For example, if the cluster has 32 ACU of reserved computing resources and you want to scale down to 16 ACU, you must first reduce the total reserved computing resources in the resource group to 16 ACU or less.

    • 1 ACU is approximately equal to 1 core and 4 GB of memory.

    Reserved Storage Resource Node Specification

When you create an instance, the reserved storage resource specification is 8 ACU, which is the minimum specification. Therefore, you cannot scale down below 8 ACU.

    Note

After the Reserved Storage Resource Node Specification is changed, the Reserved Storage Resources will be reset. Confirm the Reserved Storage Resource Node Specification before you change the Reserved Storage Resources.

    Reserved Storage Resources

    • One set of reserved storage resources = current Reserved Storage Resource Node Specification × 3 nodes.

    • Scaling down to 0 ACU is not supported.

    Cloud Disk Level

Select the cloud disk level for the cluster. The following levels are supported:

    • PL1

    • PL2

    • PL3

  3. For a Subscription cluster, read and accept the service agreement, click Buy Now, confirm the unpaid order information and payment method, and then click . For a Pay-As-You-Go cluster, read and accept the service agreement, and then click Buy Now.
