Data Security Center (DSC) protects cloud data assets — including Relational Database Service (RDS) databases and Object Storage Service (OSS) buckets — with sensitive data identification, data auditing, and threat detection.
DSC uses a subscription billing model (pay first, use later). Your total monthly cost has two components:

Value-added service fee: Additional charges when your usage exceeds the default specifications — for example, protecting more database instances or scanning more storage than the edition includes by default.
DSC also offers a Free Edition with limited capabilities. For details on what the Free Edition includes and how to upgrade, see Free Edition.
Billing formula: Total fee = (instance edition unit price + value-added service unit price) × subscription duration (months)
Billing cycle: Calculated in UTC+8. The cycle starts at the exact second you purchase or renew your instance and ends at 00:00:00 UTC+8 on the day after the expiration date.

Each edition includes a set of default specifications at a fixed monthly price. When those defaults are not enough, add value-added services to expand your quota.

All features included in the default specifications of the Advanced Edition, Enterprise Edition, and Data Audit (Classified Protection Compliance Edition) are enabled by default. You do not need to enable them separately through value-added service add-ons.
Value-added service fees
Purchase value-added services to expand beyond the default specifications of your edition. The value-added service fee is added on top of the instance edition fee.
The sections below list value-added service pricing for each edition. Features included in the Advanced Edition and Enterprise Edition default specifications use the same per-unit add-on pricing when you exceed those defaults.

The following examples show how to calculate a monthly bill.
Example 1: Advanced Edition with extra database instances
Advanced Edition base fee: USD 688/month (includes 1 database instance for Data Auditing)
Add 4 more database instances for Data Auditing (total: 5 instances, 4 above the default): 4 × USD 200 = USD 800/month
Total: USD 688 + USD 800 = USD 1,488/month
Example 2: Enterprise Edition with extra OSS protection
Enterprise Edition base fee: USD 1,666/month (includes 3 TB storage for Data Detection and Response)
Add 7 TB more OSS protection for Data Detection and Response (total: 10 TB, 7 TB above the default), priced in tiers: first 5 TB at USD 200/TB = USD 1,000; next 2 TB at USD 150/TB = USD 300; total add-on: USD 1,300/month

Billing for related products
Adding data assets to DSC may trigger charges from other Alibaba Cloud services. These charges go to the account that owns the assets, not to the DSC subscription.
For example, when you enable native log collection for an OSS asset, DSC automatically creates a dedicated project in Simple Log Service (SLS). By default, data in that project's Logstore is retained for 7 days.
If data storage stays at 900 GB or less and retention stays at 7 days or less, no SLS storage fees apply.
If either threshold is exceeded — data exceeds 900 GB or retention exceeds 7 days — SLS charges storage fees to the asset owner's account.

Bills and cost management
View usage and bills
View usage: In the Data Security Center console, go to the Overview page to see your current edition specifications and expiration date.
View bills: In the Expenses and Costs console, open the Bill DetailsBill Details page and filter by Data Security Center. For step-by-step instructions, see Bill Details.
Change instance specifications
Upgrade: On the Overview page of the Data Security Center console, click Upgrade to adjust your edition or add-on quotas. You pay the price difference between the old and new configurations. For details, see Upgrade an instance.
Downgrade: DSC does not support downgrades. For special downgrade requirements, contact your account manager.
Renew an instance
Renew your DSC instance before it expires to avoid service interruption.
Expiration reminder: The system sends renewal reminders by SMS, email, and other channels 7 days before expiration.
After expiration: The instance enters the "Expired" state. DSC retains all configurations and data for 15 days. Renew within this window to restore service. If you do not renew within 15 days, the instance and all its configurations and data are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
How to renew: On the Overview page of the Data Security Center console, click Renew Subscription.

Unsubscribe from an instance
Newly purchased instances, including the Data Audit (Classified Protection Compliance Edition), are eligible for a 5-day unconditional refund. Instances used for more than 5 days are not eligible.
For renewal orders, a 5-day unconditional refund is available before the new service cycle starts. Once the new cycle has started, refunds are not supported.

Overdue payments
Because DSC uses subscription billing, existing instances continue running normally during the subscription period even if your account balance is insufficient. However, overdue payments prevent you from upgrading or renewing instances and from purchasing other resources.
