You must renew your subscription Data Security Center (DSC) instance before it expires to ensure uninterrupted access to security capabilities provided by DSC, such as sensitive data identification and . Failure to renew on time can lead to the leakage of sensitive data and important information, which may cause severe financial and brand losses. This topic describes how to renew a DSC instance.
-
Renewing an instance only extends its service period. You cannot change its specifications during the renewal process.
-
If your account has an outstanding balance, you can still use your existing subscription instances. However, you cannot perform billable operations, such as upgrading an instance or placing a renewal order.
-
Before renewing, ensure that your account balance and any applicable vouchers are sufficient to cover the renewal fee.
Expiration
Expiration reminders
Seven days before your DSC subscription instance expires, the system sends you renewal reminders by email, or internal message. If you do not renew in time, you will lose access to DSC services the day after your instance expires.
Consequences of expiration
When your DSC instance expires, the following changes occur:
-
The DSC instance enters the Expired state.
-
During a 15-day grace period after expiration, the system retains all your configurations and data in DSC, such as asset authorizations and sensitive data discovery configurations. If you renew the instance within this period, all resources are retained, and you can continue to use your current configurations and data.
-
If you do not renew the instance within the 15-day grace period, Alibaba Cloud releases or disables related resources as follows:
-
The DSC instance is released. You can no longer access features in the DSC console or view previous configuration and historical data.
-
SQL Audit is disabled.
-
The related Log Service (SLS) Projects and Logstores are released, and the log data is deleted.
The released Project is named
sddp-, for example,- sddp-192479427903****-cn-shanghai. The deleted Logstores have names or prefixes such asrds_log,user_rds_log, anddsc_. Examples includerds_log,rds_log_agent,user_rds_log, anddsc_ots_log.
To use its features again, you must purchase a new DSC instance. For more information, see Purchase Data Security Center.
-
Renewal methods and use cases
You can choose a renewal method based on your needs at different stages of the instance lifecycle, such as initial purchase, expiration, or release.
-
Expiration: The last day you can use the instance. A successful renewal extends the expiration date.
-
Release: If an instance is not renewed within 15 days after expiration, the instance and its data are deleted on the 15th day after expiration.
