Data Security Center:Renew an instance

Last Updated:Mar 31, 2026

Renew your Data Security Center (DSC) subscription before it expires to avoid service suspension. DSC provides sensitive data identification and data masking — a lapse in service puts your data protection at risk.

Important
  • Renewal extends only the service duration. DSC specifications remain unchanged.

  • If your account has overdue payments, you cannot upgrade or renew DSC, even though existing subscription resources remain accessible.

  • Before renewing, make sure your account balance (including credit balance and vouchers) is sufficient.

What happens when DSC expires

DSC goes through three stages after expiration:

StageWhenWhat happens
ExpiredAt expirationDSC enters the Expired state. All configurations and data are retained.
Retention periodDays 1–15 after expirationAll DSC configurations and data (asset authorization, sensitive data identification) are preserved. If you renew within this period, you can continue to use the retained configurations and data.
ReleasedDay 15 after expirationDSC is permanently deleted. The DSC console becomes unavailable, all previous configurations and historical data are gone, SQL Audit is disabled, and associated Simple Log Service projects and Logstores are deleted.

After DSC is released, purchase DSC again to resume service. For more information, see Purchase DSC.

Simple Log Service resources deleted upon release:

  • Project named sddp-<Account ID>-<Region ID> (example: sddp-192479427903****-cn-shanghai)

  • Logstores with the name or prefix rds_log, user_rds_log, or dsc_ (examples: rds_log, rds_log_agent, user_rds_log, dsc_ots_log)

Note

Seven days before expiration, DSC sends renewal notifications by email or internal message.

Auto-renewal

Auto-renewal deducts the renewal fee 9 days before expiration and renews DSC for the duration you specify. This reduces manual effort and keeps DSC running without interruption.

Auto-renewal rules

ItemDetails
Deduction timingThe system attempts to deduct the fee 9 days before expiration. If the deduction fails, it retries once per day until it succeeds. Each failed attempt triggers an email notification.
What to do if deduction failsRenew DSC manually immediately to prevent service suspension. The most common cause of failure is an insufficient account balance. Do not wait for the next retry.
Renewal cycleDSC is renewed based on the duration specified when you enable auto-renewal. For example, if you specify 3 months, DSC renews for 3 months each cycle.
When auto-renewal takes effectThe next day after you enable it. Enable auto-renewal at least two days before expiration. If DSC expires tomorrow, use manual renewal instead.
Manual renewal after auto-renewal is enabledIf you manually renew DSC before the scheduled deduction date, subsequent auto-renewal fees are calculated from the new expiration time.
