Cloud Forward: Cloud-Native Container Platform Episode 2 | ASK

This article introduces the idea behind Serverless, which is to allow users to focus on their own business values rather than dealing with excessive non-infrastructure O&M.

Imagine this:

A cluster with unlimited Pod capacity right out of the box but with zero node management

A cluster capable of handling unexpected business traffic at any time and responding in seconds

A cluster that charges only based on actual business usage

Well, these have become a reality.

Welcome to another episode of Cloud Forward. Today, we’ll discuss Alibaba Cloud Serverless Kubernetes (ASK).

As cloud-native technology continues to evolve, users are hoping they can focus more on their business rather than dealing with lots of non-infrastructure O&M.

This is where Serverless Kubernetes comes into play.

Serverless Kubernetes intends to reduce the O&M efforts as much as possible by making it simple to obtain a cluster with up to 20,000 Pod concurrent capacity with a few simple configurations.

Under the hook, it connects Kubernetes to Elastic Container Instance (ECI) via Virtual Kubelet, which can run Pod natively as ECI container groups.

Since Alibaba Cloud ECI is a serverless container product, you don't need to purchase and manage an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) anymore.
