Elastic Desktop Service:Create a Cloud Desktop

Last Updated:Mar 01, 2026

This topic describes how to create a cloud desktop.

Preparations

The following preparations are optional. They can speed up the cloud desktop creation process.

  • You can create a cloud desktop template. A cloud desktop template is a collection of configuration settings used to quickly create cloud desktops. For more information, seeCreate and manage custom templates. If you do not create a template, you can use a system template instead.

  • You can create end-user accounts to assign cloud desktops. After assignment, end users can log on to WUYING Terminals with these accounts. If you do not create accounts in advance, you can first create cloud desktops.

    • Create a convenience account

The convenience account system is a proprietary user account system for WUYING Workspace. It is suitable for simple scenarios where you do not want to use Active Directory (AD). End user accounts based on this system are called convenience users. Administrators can create and manage convenience users in the WUYING Workspace console.

    • Create and manage AD accounts

The enterprise AD account system allows WUYING Workspace to connect to your enterprise AD through AD Connector. This enables unified management of user permissions and resources using AD domain control features. End user accounts based on this system are called AD users.

  • You can create an office network to host cloud desktops and related configurations. If you do not create one, you can use the default office network.

  • You can create a cloud desktop policy. A cloud desktop policy is a set of rules that control and influence the experience, behavior, capabilities, and security of cloud desktops throughout their lifecycle. Administrators only need to create a custom cloud desktop policy and associate it with cloud desktops to manage them. If management requirements change, update the policy. For more information, seePolicy configuration overview. If you do not create a policy, you can use the default policy.

Create a cloud desktop (Quick purchase)

The quick purchase process is simple. Use it if you want to buy a cloud desktop quickly and do not need custom configurations.

  1. Log on to the Elastic Desktop Service Enterprise console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources > Cloud Computers.

  3. On the WUYING Workspace Enterprise Edition page, click Create Cloud Desktop.

  4. On the Quick Purchase tab, configure the following parameters.

    Configuration item

    Description

    Region

The region where the cloud desktop is deployed. To reduce latency, select a region near your users.

    Note

After you purchase a cloud desktop, its region cannot be changed. Plan your region selection before creating the cloud desktop.

    Operating system

Select an operating system for the cloud desktop. Windows 11 Pro and Windows 10 Pro images use the Bring Your Own License (BYOL) model. After the cloud desktop is created, you must purchase and activate a license.

    Note

Microsoft has ended mainstream support for Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, and Windows 10. Free incident support and security updates are no longer available for these versions. WUYING Workspace Enterprise Edition still lets you create cloud computers that use these operating systems and provides technical support for compatibility. However, be aware of the risks and choose carefully.
