Subscription instances have an expiration date. If you do not renew them before they expire, your services may be interrupted or your data may be lost. Renew your instances promptly. You can manually renew an instance before it expires or within 15 days after it expires to extend its service period.
For more information about the effects of an overdue payment or expiration, see Effects of an overdue payment or expiration.
Pay-as-you-go and Serverless instances do not expire and do not require renewal.
Handling locked legacy RDS instances
If an RDS instance is locked due to expiration, it is typically unlocked and restored to the running state within 5 minutes after you manually renew it. Wait for the process to complete and refresh the page to check the status. If the instance fits into a legacy instance type and is still locked after renewal, submit a ticket to seek help from our technical support. After the instance is unlocked, upgrade the retired legacy instance type to a current instance type as soon as possible.
