Resource Access Management:Reset a RAM user's console password

Last Updated:Aug 08, 2025

As an administrator, you are responsible for setting and resetting console passwords for Resource Access Management (RAM) users. For security, you should rotate user passwords regularly. This topic shows you how to reset a password if it has expired or if the user's account is locked.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the RAM console as a RAM administrator.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Identities > Users.

  3. On the Users page, click the username of a specific RAM user.

  4. On the Authentication tab of the user details page, click Enable Console Logon or Modify Logon Settings.

    Note

If console sign-in is not yet enabled for the user, click Enable Console Logon to set the initial password. If a password already exists, click Modify Logon Settings to change it. For more information, see Enable console logon for a RAM user.

  5. In the Set Logon Password section of the Modify Logon Settings panel, reset the logon password.

    • Keep Current Password Unchanged: The password remains unchanged.

    • Automatically Regenerate Default Password: The system creates a new password. You must save this password to provide it to the user.

    • Reset Custom Password: Enter a new password. The password must meet complexity requirements. For more information, see Configure a password policy for RAM users.

  6. Click OK.

Note

After a user's password is changed, all active sessions for that user, including any assumed roles, are immediately terminated. The user must sign in again with the new password.
