A storage plan is a subscription-based resource plan for PolarDB. You can use storage plans to offset storage fees, fees for level-1 backups that exceed the free quota, fees for level-2 backups, fees for log backups, and Object Storage Service (OSS) storage fees for archived cold data. Storage plans can help you reduce costs. The larger the capacity and the longer the duration of the storage plan, the higher the discount. For example, a monthly storage plan provides a 10% to 45% discount compared with the corresponding pay-as-you-go cluster. The longer the duration of the plan, the higher the discount. If you purchase an annual storage plan, you can receive an additional 15% discount on the monthly price. This topic describes how to purchase a storage plan.
Usage notes
Storage plans can be applied to all PolarDB clusters in the regions that are specified by the Resource Plan Type parameter. You can select Chinese Mainland or Outside Chinese Mainland for the parameter.
If the capacity of your storage plan is insufficient, you can purchase an additional storage plan or upgrade the storage plan. You cannot downgrade storage plans. If the amount of the storage that is used exceeds the capacity of your storage plan, you are charged for the additional storage resources based on the pay-as-you-go billing method.
For example, if you create three PolarDB clusters each of which requires 400 GB of storage, you can purchase a storage plan with 1,000 GB of capacity for the clusters. The excess 200 GB of storage usage is billed based on the pay-as-you-go billing method. For more information, see View the database storage usage.
When you purchase, upgrade, renew, or unsubscribe from storage plans, only billing is involved. The preceding operations do not affect your business operations.
Procedure
Log on to the PolarDB console.
Click Create Cluster.
Set the Product Type parameter to Storage Plan and configure the parameters. The following table describes the parameters.

The subscription period of the storage plan.
