When you change the configurations of a cluster, fees are calculated based on the cluster's billing method and the scope of the change.
Usage notes
After a configuration change—whether manual or automatic—billing adjusts to reflect the new configuration.
Subscription
Upgrade specifications or add nodes
You pay the price difference between the new and original configurations for the remaining subscription period.
Formula: Payment = (New monthly price / 30 / 24 × Unused hours) − (Original monthly price / 30 / 24 × Unused hours)
Example: The new configuration costs USD 14,400 per month, and the old configuration costs USD 7,200 per month. The subscription has 50 days remaining. The fee to pay is (14,400 / 30 / 24 × 50 × 24) - (7,200 / 30 / 24 × 50 × 24) = USD 12,000.
Example: New configuration costs USD 14,400/month, original costs USD 7,200/month, with 50 days remaining.
Payment = (14,400 / 30 / 24 × 50 × 24) − (7,200 / 30 / 24 × 50 × 24) = USD 12,000
Downgrade specifications or delete nodes
You receive a refund for the price difference between the original and new configurations for the remaining subscription period.
Formula: Refund = (Original monthly price / 30 / 24 × Unused hours) − (New monthly price / 30 / 24 × Unused hours)
Example: Original configuration costs USD 1,000/month, new configuration costs USD 800/month, with 30 days remaining.
Refund = (1,000 / 30 / 24 × 30 × 24) − (800 / 30 / 24 × 30 × 24) = USD 200
The refund is calculated based on the actual amount you paid, not the listed price.
Discounts: If you received an annual discount when purchasing the cluster, the refund is based on the discounted price. For example, a 15% annual discount on a USD 1,000/month cluster means the refund is calculated based on USD 850/month.
Vouchers: If you used a voucher, the refund is based on the amount you actually paid. For example, if you paid USD 500 after applying a voucher, the refund is calculated based on this USD 500 payment. The refund is based on this USD payment.
Refunds apply to the downgraded specifications only—fees for the entire cluster cannot be refunded. To request a full cluster refund, submit a ticket. If approved, your subscription cluster is frozen and deleted after 14 days.
Pay-as-you-go
Pay-as-you-go clusters are billed by the hour. After a configuration change, you are charged on an hourly basis based on the price of the new configurations.
Serverless
Serverless clusters do not support manual configuration changes. Compute node resources scale automatically based on workload.
To adjust the scaling behavior, modify the serverless settings. For details, see Set a scaling policy for serverless cluster resources.
