This topic describes the personal space recycle bin feature. When you delete files and folders from your personal space, they move to the recycle bin, where you can manage them.
Overview
The Alibaba Cloud Drive recycle bin retains files and folders deleted by users or administrators for a default 90-day period. During this time, you can restore or permanently delete them.
-
retention period: The default is 90 days. A super administrator or drive administrator can change this duration in the management console to meet your organization's needs.
-
storage usage: Items in the recycle bin continue to count toward the storage usage of their original path until you permanently delete them or the system automatically purges them.
-
Automatic cleanup: After the retention period expires, the system automatically and permanently deletes the files. These files cannot be restored.
Permissions
-
super administrator / drive administrator: Can view and manage deleted data from the enterprise space and all team spaces.
-
team administrator: Can only manage deleted files from their own team space.
-
standard user: Can only manage deleted files from their personal space.
Features
If a standard user deletes files from a team or enterprise space, they must contact an administrator to restore or permanently delete them.
Empty, permanently delete, and restore
You can perform the following operations in the recycle bin:
-
empty recycle bin: This action permanently deletes all files and folders in the recycle bin. This operation cannot be undone.
-
permanently delete: Select one or more files or folders to permanently delete them. This action is also irreversible.
-
restore: Select one or more files or folders to restore them. The system moves them back to their original path.
⚠️ Use the "permanently delete" and "empty recycle bin" features with caution. To prevent data loss, ensure the items are no longer needed before performing these irreversible operations.
Search
You can search and filter for deleted items in the recycle bin using the following criteria:
-
Source space: Filter by enterprise space, team space, or personal space.
-
file type: Filter by common formats, such as documents, images, or videos.
-
file size: Filter by a size range, such as 0-1 MB, 1-5 GB, or over 10 TB.
-
deletion time: Filter by a time frame, such as the last 7 days, within 30 days, or a custom date range.
-
deleted by: Enter a username or search for the user who deleted the items.
You can also enter keywords in the search bar at the top to search by file name and view your search history for faster searches.
Only administrators can access the recycle bin for an enterprise space or team space. Standard users can only manage deleted items from their personal space.
