CloudOps Orchestration Service:Host management

Use OOS quick setup to configure management options such as health monitoring, patch scanning, and log collection for ECS instances across multiple regions at once.

Limitations

  • The ECS instances must be in the Running state.

  • Cloud Assistant must be installed on the ECS instances and be Active.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Operation Orchestration Service (OOS) console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Quick Setup.

  3. On the Configuration Library tab, in the Host Management section, click Create.

  4. On the Host Management page, configure the parameters and click Create.

    Configuration Description

    Description of the configuration. 1 to 256 characters.

    cross-account configuration

    Current account

    Default. Selects resources in the current account.

    Cross-account (Resource Directory)

    Manages resources across multiple accounts. Enable Resource Directory with a management or delegated administrator account first. Set ROS as a trusted service when enabling trusted access. Manage delegated administrator accounts.

    OOS

    Scan for missing patches on instances daily at 00:00

    OOS scans instances for missing patches daily at 00:00 and generates a compliance report showing compliant node count and per-node status. Patch management overview, Patch management.

    Collect inventory from your instances every 1 hour

    OOS collects the following metadata from your instances every hour:

    Metadata type

    • Application: name, publisher, version, and more.

    • Network configuration: IP address, MAC address, DNS server, gateway, subnet mask, and more.

    • Service: name, status, related services, service type, startup type, and more.

    • Windows role: name, path, feature type, and installation status. This metadata is collected only from Windows Server nodes.

    • Windows update: patch ID, installed by, installation date, and more. This metadata is collected only from Windows Server nodes.

    • Instance details: system name, OS name, OS version, DNS server, domain name, OS type, and more.

    Important

    Inventory collection can take up to 30 minutes, even with only a few nodes.

    CloudMonitor

    Install CloudMonitor agent

    Installs a basic configuration of the CloudMonitor agent on your ECS instances for host monitoring. Agent overview.

    Log Service

    Install Logtail

    Collects log data in real time from servers, applications, and databases, and transfers it to Log Service for storage and analysis.

    Select Instances

    Select region

    Select a region:

    • Deploy in current region: Targets managed nodes in the currently selected console region.

    • Deploy in specific regions: Applies the configuration to selected regions.

    Target instances

    Select target instances. Options vary by region selection:

    • Current region: manually select instances, specify tags or resource groups, or select all instances.

    • Specific regions: select instances by tag or select all instances.

  5. In the Confirm Configuration dialog box, verify the parameters and click OK.

    After setup, the new configuration appears on the Configurations tab.
