Microservices Engine:Send MSE alert notifications to a DingTalk group

Last Updated:Mar 11, 2026

When your microservices trigger alerts, your team needs to see them immediately. By connecting a DingTalk chatbot to Microservices Engine (MSE), alert notifications are posted directly into a DingTalk group where your team already collaborates. This reduces response time because alerts appear alongside ongoing conversations instead of buried in email or a separate monitoring dashboard.

The setup takes three steps: create a custom chatbot in DingTalk, register its webhook URL as an alert contact in the MSE console, and associate that contact with an alert rule.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure that you have:

  • Access to the MSE console with permissions to manage alert rules and alert contacts

  • The DingTalk desktop client installed on your PC (you must create the chatbot from the desktop client, not the mobile app)

Step 1: Create a chatbot and get the webhook URL

Create a custom chatbot in your DingTalk group and copy its webhook URL. MSE sends alert notifications to this URL.

  1. Open the DingTalk desktop client and go to the group where you want to receive alerts.

  2. Click the Settings icon icon in the upper-right corner to open the Group Settings panel.

  3. In the Group Management section, click Bot.

  4. Click Add Robot.

  5. In the Robot dialog box, click Add Robot, then select the Custom card.

  6. In the Robot details dialog box, click Add.

  7. Configure the chatbot:

    1. Add a profile picture and enter a name for the chatbot.

    2. If you want to receive alerts for service inspection, select Custom Keywords in the Security Settings section and enter the keyword Microservice Online Monitoring.

    3. Read and accept the terms of service.

  8. Click Finished.

  9. In the Add Robot dialog box, copy the webhook URL. Save it for the next step.

    Important

Keep this webhook URL confidential. Anyone with this URL can send messages to your group.

Step 2: Register the chatbot as an alert contact in MSE

Add the DingTalk chatbot as an alert contact so you can select it as a notification target in alert rules.

  1. Log on to the MSE console.

  2. Create a new alert contact. For detailed steps, see Create a contact.

  3. When prompted for contact details, paste the webhook URL from Step 1.

Step 3: Associate the chatbot with an alert rule

Link the chatbot contact to an alert rule so that MSE sends notifications through the chatbot when alerts are triggered.

  • New alert rule: Create an alert rule, set Notification Objects to DingTalk/Lark/WeCom, and select the chatbot contact you created. For instructions, see Manage alert rules.

  • Existing alert rule: Edit the alert rule, set Notification Objects to DingTalk/Lark/WeCom, and select the chatbot contact. For instructions, see Manage alert rules.

Result

After you complete the preceding steps, the DingTalk chatbot is configured to send alert notifications. When an alert is triggered, you receive alert notifications in the specified DingTalk group.

Remove the chatbot

To stop receiving alert notifications in the DingTalk group:

  1. Open the DingTalk group and go to Group Settings.

  2. In the Group Management section, click Bot.

  3. Remove the chatbot from the group.

After removing the chatbot, also delete or update the corresponding alert contact in the MSE console to keep your contact list clean.
