Lindorm:Create an instance

Last Updated:Jan 29, 2024

You can create a Lindorm instance in the Lindorm console. This topic describes how to create a Lindorm instance and the parameters that you must configure when you create the instance.

Prerequisites

An Alibaba Cloud account is created.

Usage notes

  • If your application is deployed on an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance, make sure that your Lindorm instance and the ECS instance meet the following requirements to ensure network connectivity. For more information about how to view the ECS instance information, see View instance information.

    • The Lindorm instance and the ECS instance are deployed in the same region. We recommend that you also deploy the two instances in the same zone to reduce network latency.

    • The network types of your Lindorm instance and ECS instance are the same.

    Note

We recommend that you deploy the two instances in virtual private clouds (VPCs) because VPCs provide higher security. If the network type is VPC, make sure that the instances are deployed in the same VPC.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Lindorm console.

  2. On the Instances page, click Create.

    Note

You can also go to the product details page and click Buy Now to create a Lindorm instance.

  3. Set the Product Type parameter to Lindorm, Lindorm Lightweight Edition, Lindorm AIGC Trial Edition, or Lindorm Tunnel Service based on your business requirements.

    Note

For more information about the types of Lindorm instances, see Series.

  4. Set the Billing Method parameter to Subscription or Pay-as-you-go.

    Note

A pay-as-you-go instance can be converted into a subscription instance. A subscription instance cannot be converted into a pay-as-you-go instance.

    • Subscription: If you purchase a subscription instance, you must pay an upfront fee for the instance. For long-term usage, the subscription billing method is more cost-effective than the pay-as-you-go billing method. You are provided with larger discounts for longer subscription periods.

    • Pay-as-you-go: You are charged for your instance based on the instance specification. Bills are generated on an hourly basis. Fees are automatically deducted from your account. For short-term use, we recommend that you select the pay-as-you-go billing method. If you no longer need a pay-as-you-go instance, you can release the instance to reduce costs.

  5. Configure the parameters described in the following table.

    Parameter

    Description

    Deployment Method

    • Single-zone: The primary and secondary nodes are deployed in the same zone. This deployment method can provide single-data center disaster recovery.

      Note

If you select Lindorm Lightweight Edition for the Product Type parameter, only Single-zone is available for the Deployment Method parameter.

    • Multi-zone: The primary and secondary nodes are deployed in different zones to implement zone-disaster recovery. We recommend that you deploy your instance by using this method.

    Region

Specify the region where you want to deploy the instance.

    Note
    • After the instance is created, the region of the instance cannot be changed. Select the region with caution.

    • If your application is deployed on an ECS instance, we recommend that you deploy the Lindorm instance in the region where the ECS instance resides. If the Lindorm instance and the ECS instance are deployed in different regions, your application cannot communicate with the Lindorm instance over an internal network.

    Zone

Specify the zone where you want to deploy the instance.

    Note

If your application is deployed on an ECS instance, we recommend that you deploy the Lindorm instance in the zone where the ECS instance resides to reduce network latency.

    Multi-zone

This parameter is available only if you select Multi-zone for the Deployment Method parameter.

    Network Type

Specify the type of network where you want to deploy the instance. This parameter can be set only to VPC.

    VPC.

Specify the ID of the VPC where you want to deploy the instance. If no VPCs are available, you can create a VPC in the VPC console. For more information, see Create and manage a VPC.

    vSwitch

Specify the ID of the vSwitch to which you want the instance to connect. If no vSwitches are available, you can create a vSwitch in the VPC console. For more information, see Create a vSwitch.

    Cluster Name

Specify the name of the instance, which is used to identify and manage the instance.

    Storage Type

Specify the storage type of the instance. Lindorm provides the following storage types: Standard, Performance, Capacity, Local SSD, and Local HDD. You can select a storage type based on your business requirements. For more information, see Storage types.

    • Standard: This storage type is suitable for scenarios in which you require real-time data access, such as feed processing, data exchanges in chats, real-time report processing, and online computing.

    • Performance: This storage type is suitable for scenarios in which you require low-latency data access, such as bidding and advertising, user persona analysis, audience group selection, real-time searches, and risk management.

    • Capacity: This storage type is suitable for low-frequency data access scenarios, such as the storage of monitoring logs and historical orders, audio and video file archiving, the storage of data lakes, and offline computing.

    • Local SSD: A local SSD is a local disk that is attached to a single physical server. Local SSDs provide multiple benefits, such as low latency, high random IOPS, high throughput, and high cost-effectiveness. Local SSDs are suitable for online business scenarios, such as online gaming, e-commerce, live streaming, and media. This storage type can meet your requirements on low latency and high I/O performance in I/O-intensive applications for block storage.

    • Local HDD: A local HDD is a local disk that is attached to a single physical server. Local HDDs provide multiple benefits, such as low latency, high IOPS, high throughput, and high cost-effectiveness. Local HDDs are the preferred storage media for industries such as the Internet and finance that have high requirements for big data computing, storage, and analysis. Local HDDs are suitable for the storage and offline computing of large amounts of data.
