Cloud Backup:Billing examples

Last Updated:Sep 20, 2023

This topic describes the billing examples of Cloud Backup.

Pay-as-you-go billing method

Example 1

You have an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance. The total size of ECS files is 10 GB. The total size of database files is 163 GB. No incremental data is generated in the ECS instance. You use Cloud Backup to back up the ECS instance. A backup job is run once a month. The backup data is retained for 30 days each time.

In this example, the monthly fee is USD 14.036744 (30 days per month). The following table describes the billing details.

Cloud Backup clients

You are charged based on the number of nodes on which backup clients are installed.

Per ECS instance or per on-premises server

USD 5.383511

USD 5.383511

Storage usage of backup vaults

Cloud Backup deduplicates and compresses data for backup. You are charged for the backup storage based on the storage space occupied by the data that is deduplicated and compressed. For example, the original data size is 10 GB. After the data is deduplicated and compressed, the data size is approximately 8 GB.

You can use Backup Storage Calculator to estimate the required backup storage.

Per GB

USD 0.031870

USD 0.031870 × 8 GB = USD 0.25496

Rental of database backup vaults

You are charged a fixed amount of rental fee for each database backup vault. A backup vault can store the backups of multiple databases that are located in the same region.

Per backup vault

USD 6.460213

Storage space that is occupied by database backups

Tiered pricing is used. For example, the original data size is 163 GB. After the data is deduplicated and compressed, the data size is approximately 130 GB. A free quota of 100 GB is provided per month. You are charged for 30 GB.

You can use Backup Storage Calculator to estimate the required backup storage.

Per GB

USD 0.064602 (First 500 GB)

USD 0.064602 × 30 GB = USD 1.93806
