Hologres:Connect to an instance

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have:

• A registered Alibaba Cloud account with identity verification completed

• An activated Hologres instance (see Purchase a Hologres instance)

• The Domain Name and Port of your instance — find these in the Network Information section on the instance details page in the Hologres Management Console

• Your credentials, depending on your logon method:

  • Password-free Logon: no credentials required — HoloWeb authenticates using your current Alibaba Cloud account automatically

  • Password Logon: your AccessKey ID and AccessKey secret — get them from AccessKey Management

Connect to an instance

1. Log on to the Hologres Management Console.

2. In the navigation pane on the left of the top menu bar, select the desired region.

3. Click Go to HoloWeb to open the HoloWeb development page.

4. Click Metadata Management, then click Instances.

5. In the Instances dialog box, configure the connection parameters and click OK.

   Parameter	Description	Required
   Network type	Select Public Network or VPC. Public Network is available in: China (Shanghai), China (Shenzhen), China (Beijing), China (Hangzhou), China (Zhangjiakou), Singapore, China (Hong Kong), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Indonesia (Jakarta), and US (Silicon Valley). VPC is only available in the region where HoloWeb is currently logged on, and VPC instance connections cannot be edited or deleted.	No
   Instance name	Select an instance created under your current account. If the instance does not appear, HoloWeb may still be loading — enter the Domain Name and Port manually to proceed.	No
   Name	The display name for this connection. Defaults to the selected instance name, but you can customize it.	Yes
   Description	An optional description for this connection.	No
   Domain name	The network endpoint of your Hologres instance. Selecting an Instance name auto-fills this field. You can also enter it manually from the Network Information section on the instance details page.	Yes
   Port	The network port of your Hologres instance. Selecting an Instance name auto-fills this field. You can also enter it manually from Network Information.	Yes
   Logon method	Password-free Logon authenticates using your current Alibaba Cloud account — no credentials required. Choose this if you are connecting with the same account you used to log on to the Management Console. Password Logon lets you sign in with the AccessKey ID and AccessKey secret of your current or another account. Choose this if you need to connect as a different account.	Yes
   Username	The AccessKey ID for the account. Required only for Password Logon.	No
   Password	The AccessKey secret for the account. Required only for Password Logon.	No
   Test connectivity	Click to verify the connection before saving. The test is successful. confirms the connection is valid. If The test failed. appears, check your domain name, port, and credentials.	No
   Log on after connecting	Yes: the instance appears in the logged-on instances list on the left. No: the instance is saved but not logged on, and appears in the not logged-on instances list.	Yes

6. After the connection is established, click the icon next to Instance Management to reload the instance list, then click Logged-in Instances to view your connected instances. Right-click an instance to manage it. For details, see Manage instances.
