Can I use Global Accelerator (GA) if my client is in a region GA doesn't support?
Yes. GA lets clients reach the Alibaba Cloud acceleration network from the nearest access point, regardless of whether their region is explicitly listed.
The setup depends on the accelerated IP address type you use:
Elastic IP Address (EIP): Select the acceleration area closest to your client when configuring the acceleration area. Clients connect to the Alibaba Cloud acceleration network using the accelerated IP address or CNAME assigned to that area.
Anycast EIP: No acceleration area configuration is needed. GA provides a single unified IP entry point across multiple regions worldwide. Clients connect automatically from the nearest access point using the Anycast EIP or CNAME.
After I configure a CNAME record, why doesn't it take effect?
The CNAME maps your backend service domain to the GA instance's CNAME. When a client accesses the backend, GA resolves the domain to an accelerated IP address based on the client's region.
Check which acceleration areas you have configured — the geographic scope of your acceleration areas determines where the CNAME takes effect:

For region-based DNS resolution to work, upgrade Alibaba Cloud DNS to Enterprise Standard Edition or Enterprise Ultimate Edition. See Upgrade an instance. After upgrading, change the default ISP line of the existing A record to the ISP line of a specific region, then add a CNAME record that maps your domain to the CNAME assigned to the GA instance.
If the CNAME still hasn't propagated after checking the above, DNS caching may be the cause. Two TTL values affect propagation time:
DNS server cache TTL: Set when you configure DNS records.
GA cache TTL: GA fetches DNS records every 15 seconds by default.
Does GA accelerate IPv4 clients if I configure IPv6 for the acceleration area?
No. When IPv6 is configured for the acceleration area, only IPv6 clients can connect to the GA instance for accelerated access to backend services. IPv4 clients are not accelerated.
Why do I get an error when modifying the bandwidth of an acceleration area?
This error appears when your subscription GA instance or its associated basic bandwidth plan has expired:

If the GA instance has expired:
Renew the subscription GA instance.

Renew the basic bandwidth plan.
Purchase a new basic bandwidth plan to replace the original.
