    Prepay for computing resources for a fixed duration. EMR Serverless Spark calculates the price based on the number of CUs, the unit price, and the subscription length.

    Applicable scenarios

    Subscription is suitable for the following scenarios:

    • Long-term, stable workloads: Cost-effective for consistent, long-running workloads such as Spark Streaming jobs or persistent Kyuubi and Livy services.

    • Predictable budgeting: Prepaying locks in costs and eliminates billing uncertainty from fluctuating usage.

    Billing rules

    The total price of a subscription quota in a workspace is calculated as follows: Number of CUs × Unit price × Subscription duration.

    Important

    In this formula, the subscription duration is measured in months. Refer to your bill for the final charges.

    For example, in the Singapore region, the unit price for a computing resource is USD 32.21/CU/month. If you purchase a subscription quota of 100 CUs for a workspace for 6 months, the total fee is 100 CUs × USD 32.21/CU/month × 6 months = USD 19,326.

    Billing cycle

    The billing cycle starts at the exact second the subscription is activated or renewed (UTC+8) and ends at 00:00:00 on the day after the expiration date.

    Renewal

    Renew your subscription quota before it expires to maintain uninterrupted service. For more information, see Renewal rules.

    Note

    • If you do not renew before expiration, jobs submitted to the subscription resource queue stop running. Renew promptly to avoid disruptions.

    • If your account has an overdue payment, automatic renewal may fail. Top up your account and renew the subscription manually.

    Refunds

    If you no longer need the subscription quota, unsubscribe from it in the Expenses and Costs console. For more information, see Unsubscription and refunds.

    Upgrade

    Increase your subscription quota at any time to meet growing business needs. For more information, see Upgrade subscription quota.

    Downgrade

    Decrease your resource quota if your business needs change. For more information, see Downgrade subscription quota.

    The following tables list computing resource prices by region.

    Important

    • Subscriptions of one year or longer receive larger discounts.

    • If there is a price discrepancy due to promotions, the price on the purchase page takes precedence.

    Upgrade subscription quota

    1. Go to the EMR Serverless Spark workspace page.

      1. Log on to the E-MapReduce console.

      2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose EMR Serverless > Spark.

    2. On the Spark page, find your workspace and in the Upgrade Subscription Quota column, choose image > Upgrade Subscription Quota.

    3. On the EMR Serverless Spark Reserved Resources | Upgrade page, set the CU Quota to the desired amount and click Buy Now.

    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase.

    5. (Optional) View the quota information.

      In the Subscription Quota column on the Spark page, view your purchased quota information.

      This column displays usage as Used Quota / Total Quota CUs. For example, 0 / 100 CU means 0 CUs are in use out of a total quota of 100 CUs.

    6. Use the subscription quota.

      To use the quota, assign it to a new or existing resource queue. You can also assign the quota to the default queue. If you need to make adjustments, see Manage resource queues.

    Downgrade subscription quota

    1. Go to the EMR Serverless Spark workspace page.

      1. Log on to the E-MapReduce console.

      2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose EMR Serverless > Spark.

    2. On the Spark page, find your workspace and in the Downgrade Subscription Quota column, choose image > Downgrade Subscription Quota.

    3. On the EMR Serverless Spark Reserved Resources | Downgrade page, set the CU Quota to the desired amount and click Buy Now.

    4. A partial refund is issued based on specific calculation rules. For more information, see Downgrade refund rules.

    5. (Optional) View the quota information.

      In the Subscription Quota column on the Spark page, view your purchased quota information.

    6. Use the subscription quota.

      To use the quota, assign it to a new or existing resource queue. You can also assign the quota to the default queue. If you need to make adjustments, see Manage resource queues.
