    Ubuntu is a Linux distribution supported and maintained by Canonical Ltd. It is known for being user-friendly and is available free of charge. Canonical releases a Long Term Support (LTS) version of Ubuntu every two years, which includes five years of security updates and technical support. The Ubuntu images provided by Alibaba Cloud are based on the official Ubuntu distribution. Alibaba Cloud regularly updates these images with the latest security patches and feature updates. This topic describes the versions and updates for Ubuntu images.

    Note

    • For more information about Ubuntu, visit the official Ubuntu website.

    • Maintenance for Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, 18.04, and 20.04 has been discontinued. If you use Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances that run these images, take appropriate measures to ensure they continue to receive software updates and security patches. This helps prevent issues that can arise when an operating system is no longer maintained. For more information, see Ubuntu operating systems.
