Domain Names:Verify a registrant's email address

Last Updated:Dec 19, 2025

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) requires that all domain name registration information in WHOIS be accurate and complete. To comply with this policy, Alibaba Cloud must verify the registrant's email address. If an email address is not verified, the registrar may place the associated domain name in the ClientHold status, which suspends its DNS resolution. This topic describes how to verify a domain name registrant's email address.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Domain Names console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Email Verification. In the Verify New Email Address field, enter the email address that you want to verify and click Submit. Alibaba Cloud will send a verification email to that address.

    Note

You can enter up to 100 email addresses at a time, with each address on a new line.

  3. Log on to the email account and click the verification link in the email.

    Note

The verification link expires three days after the email is sent.

  4. After you click the link, the email address status changes to Verification successful on the Email Verification page.

    Note
    • To delete a verified email address, you must complete SMS verification by using the phone number associated with your Alibaba Cloud account.

    • If you delete a verified email address, it must be verified again before it can be used for a new domain name registration.
