This topic describes how to perform forward synchronization of incremental data files.

Prerequisites

The custom parameters of a destination database are modified and the Forward Incremental Synchronization (Including Full Synchronization) step is displayed in the Data Management (DMS) console. For more information, see Perform business testing.

Procedure

  1. In the Forward Incremental Synchronization (Including Full Synchronization) step, exclude schema objects.
Before you migrate data, you need to exclude schema objects, such as triggers, constraints, and indexes. After data is migrated, you can include the schemas. In the Excluded Schemas section, you can select the schema objects that you want to temporarily exclude.
    1. On the Excluded Schemas tab, click Start.
    2. In the message that appears, click OK.
    3. Optional:Click the Schema Details tab to view the details of the schema objects that you want to exclude.
  2. Migrate data.
    1. Click the Data Migration tab, and then click Create Migration Project.
    2. In the Create Migration Project panel, perform the following operations: Set the parameters of the Data Transmission Service (DTS) instance that you purchase. View the information about the source and destination database. Add an allowlist of DTS instances to the source database based on the region in which the migration project resides. Select the tables to be migrated.
    3. Click Test Connectivity.
    4. After the connectivity test is passed, click Create.
After the configuration is complete, the migration project automatically starts. However, errors may occur if a large amount of data is migrated at one time. Therefore, Advanced Database & Application Migration (ADAM) migrates data in batches.
    5. Click View Details to go to the DTS console. On the Overview page, you can check the details of the migration task.
If the data migration instance cannot meet your requirements for data volume, you can click Upgrade in the Actions column to update the specifications of the data migration instance.
  3. Include schema objects.
After data is migrated, you can include the schema objects, such as triggers, constraints, and indexes.
    1. Click Start on the Included Schemas tab.
    2. In the message that appears, click OK.
    3. Click the Schema Details tab to view the details of the schema objects.
