Convert a Data Transmission Service (DTS) data synchronization instance to a serverless instance to enable automatic capacity scaling based on your workload.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, confirm that your sync instance meets all of the following conditions:
Instance compatibility
The Database Type of the source database is not PostgreSQL, PolarDB for PostgreSQL, or PolarDB (Compatible with Oracle).
The instance's region and configuration meet the supported regions and limits for serverless instances.
Instance status
The instance status is Running or Paused.
Billing method
The billing method is pay-as-you-go. If the instance uses subscription billing, switch it to pay-as-you-go first.
Source database logs
Log information for the specified offset exists in the source database. If the logs are missing, the instance may fail to run and cannot be recovered.
Convert the instance
Go to the Data Synchronization page using one of the following methods:
DTS console
Log on to the DTS console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Data Synchronization.
In the upper-left corner, select the region where the instance resides.
DMS console
NoteThe navigation path may differ depending on your DMS console mode and layout. For details, see Simple mode and Customize the layout and style of the DMS console.
Log on to the DMS console.
In the top navigation bar, move the pointer over Data + AI and choose .
From the drop-down list to the right of Data Synchronization Tasks, select the region where the instance resides.
Find the target instance. Filter by task name, instance ID, or database instance ID.

In the Actions column of the target instance, click
> Change to Serverless. In the Are you sure you want to change the instances used by the selected tasks to serverless instances? dialog box, configure the Auto Scaling Configurations for Serverless Instance by setting the Lower Limit and Upper Limit for the serverless instance.
Read and agree to the Data Transmission Service (Pay-as-you-go) Service Terms.
Click Pay.
What's next
After conversion, the instance runs as a serverless instance and automatically adjusts capacity based on your synchronization workload. To review supported regions or understand serverless limits, see What is a DTS serverless instance?.
