DTS serverless instances scale automatically based on workload — no manual resource adjustment required. Follow this guide to configure a data synchronization task with the Pay-as-you-go Serverless billing method.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, verify that your task type and region support serverless instances. For details, see What is a DTS serverless instance?
Configure a serverless instance
Go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page and select the region where your data synchronization task resides.
Use either the DTS console or the DMS console:
DTS console
Log on to the DTS console.
In the upper-left corner of the page, select the region in which the data synchronization task resides.
DMS console
Steps may vary depending on the mode and layout of the DMS console. For details, see Simple mode and Customize the layout and style of the DMS console.
Log on to the DMS console.
In the top navigation bar, move the pointer over Data + AI and choose DTS (DTS) > Data Synchronization.
From the drop-down list to the right of Data Synchronization Tasks, select the region in which the data synchronization instance resides.
Configure a data synchronization task and proceed to the Purchase Instance step.
For supported synchronization scenarios, see Overview of data synchronization scenarios.
Select Pay-as-you-go Serverless as the billing method.
Configure Auto Scaling Configurations for Serverless Instance. Set the minimum and maximum DU count for the instance. Valid values are:
Setting Valid values Minimum DUs 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 Maximum DUs 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 Before the instance starts, DTS cannot determine the actual number of DUs required. Therefore, DTS calculates an initial DU count based on your configured minimum and maximum values. After the instance starts, DTS automatically scales the DU count based on actual workload.
Select Data Transmission Service (Pay-as-you-go) Service Terms and click Buy and Start.
The instance appears on the Data Synchronization Tasks page, where you can track its progress.
FAQ
Can I purchase a serverless instance first and configure the task later?
Yes. On the Data Synchronization Tasks page, find the instance, then click Configure Task in the Actions column.
How do I identify serverless instances on the tasks page?
Serverless instances show Serverless as the Billing Method on the Data Synchronization Tasks page.
How does DTS configure the initial number of DUs when a serverless instance starts?
Before a serverless instance starts, DTS cannot determine the actual number of DUs required. Therefore, DTS calculates an initial number of DUs based on the configured minimum and maximum values. After the serverless instance starts, DTS automatically scales the number of DUs based on the actual workload.
