You can use the basic features of Data Management (DMS) free of charge. You can also pay for advanced features to strengthen the management of data, accounts, and processes. This topic describes the billing methods, billing items, and pricing of DMS.

Billing items

Control mode If an instance is managed in Stable Change or Security Collaboration mode, you are charged for the instance. The subscription and pay-as-you-go billing methods are supported.
  • If an instance is managed in Flexible Management mode, you can use the instance free of charge.

Note You can stop using a pay-as-you-go control mode at any time. This helps you save costs. For more information, see Stop using a pay-as-you-go control mode.
Sensitive data protection The sensitive data protection feature of DMS helps you recognize, de-identify, and manage sensitive data. For more information, see Sensitive data protection.

This feature can be enabled for instances that are managed in Flexible Management, Stable Change, or Security Collaboration mode. The subscription and pay-as-you-go billing methods are supported.

  • Subscription: USD 31.25/instance/month
  • Pay-as-you-go: USD 1.56/instance/day

  • DMS can recognize sensitive data in real time, at scheduled time, or on a regular basis.
  • The templates that are used to recognize sensitive data are designed based on the Data Security Law of the People's Republic of China, the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China, the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS). You can also customize a template to recognize sensitive data.

Fine-grained access control Not supported Not supported Supported DMS supports metadata collection and allows you to perform fine-grained access control based on collected metadata.


After you purchase a subscription plan for a control mode, you can click Upgrade to upgrade the subscription plan if the number of instances to be managed in this control mode exceeds the quota of the subscription plan.

Note When DMS calculates the number of instances, normal and disabled instances are counted. Deleted instances are not counted. You can view the status of an instance on the Instance List tab.
