In Data Management (DMS), you can disable or enable database instances based on your business requirements. This topic shows you how to disable and enable a database instance and how to view the reason why a database instance is disabled.

Prerequisites

You are a database administrator (DBA) or a DMS administrator. For more information about user roles, see View system roles.

Usage notes

Operation Description
Disable a database instance If you do not allow other DMS users to query or change the data of a specific database instance, you can disable the database instance.
Note
  • A disabled database instance is unavailable in DMS and is removed from the left-side instance list on the homepage of the DMS console. In addition, you cannot retrieve the databases and tables in the database instance by searching for them in the DMS console. However, a disabled database instance can still run as normal and is available in other Alibaba Cloud services.
  • A disabled database instance consumes the quota of the control mode. If you no longer need to use the database instance in DMS, delete the database instance to release resources. For more information, see Remove database instances.
View the reason why a database instance is disabled You can check whether a database instance is manually disabled or view the reason why a database instance is disabled.
Enable a database instance If you want to query or change the data of a disabled database instance in DMS, you must first enable the database instance.
