Enable transfer acceleration - Cloud Storage Gateway - Alibaba Cloud Documentation Center

Transfer acceleration increases the speed of data transfers across regions by using the public bandwidth of a file gateway. This topic describes how to enable transfer acceleration.

Prerequisites

A file gateway is created, and a cache disk is attached to it. For more information, see Manage file gateways and Attach a cache disk.
An OSS bucket is created. For more information, see Get started by using the OSS console.
The OSS bucket has transfer acceleration enabled.
Transfer acceleration is supported only in cross-region scenarios.

Considerations

When enabling transfer acceleration for a share, note the following points:

A gateway may contain multiple shares. You need to enable transfer acceleration separately for each share.
If transfer acceleration is not enabled for the corresponding OSS bucket, transfer acceleration will not take effect for the share.
If transfer acceleration is enabled for the corresponding OSS bucket, transfer acceleration will be automatically enabled for the share.

Procedure

Method 1: Enable transfer acceleration when creating a shareEnable transfer acceleration

Follow these steps to enable transfer acceleration:

Go to the Cloud Storage Gateway console Gateway List page, find the target file gateway, and then click Share List > Create.
On the Bucket Settings page, select Cross-region Binding.
On the Advanced Settings page, select to enable Transfer Acceleration.
Note
Transfer acceleration can be configured only when Cross-region Binding is selected in Bucket Settings.

After the share is created, you can click the + icon to the left of the created share on the Share List page to check whether Transfer Acceleration is correctly enabled.

Method 2: Enable transfer acceleration after creating a share

Go to the Cloud Storage Gateway console Gateway List page, and click the target file gateway.
On the Share List page, find the target share and click Advanced Settings on the right.
On the NFS Share Advanced Settings or SMB Share Advanced Settings page, select to enable Transfer Acceleration.
Note
Transfer acceleration can be configured only when Cross-region Binding is selected in Bucket Settings.
Click the + icon to the left of the share to check whether Transfer Acceleration is correctly enabled.
