Compute Nest:Create a managed O&M service

Last Updated:Mar 31, 2026

Compute Nest supports two types of managed operations and maintenance (O&M) services. Choose the type that matches your onboarding scenario before you start.

Service typeWhen to use
Private service with hosted O&M enabledYou already have a private service published in Compute Nest and want your customers to grant you O&M access to their deployed resources.
Hosted O&M serviceYou want a standalone service that gives you direct O&M access to customer resources, without a pre-existing private service.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A Compute Nest service provider account

  • The required permissions to create services in the Compute Nest console

Enable hosted O&M on a private service

If you have an existing private service and want to add hosted O&M access, instruct your customers to grant the necessary permissions when they create a service instance.

When a customer creates a service instance from your private service, they must complete the O&M section. Ask them to select Obtain Permissions and choose the specific permissions to grant you from the drop-down list.

For step-by-step guidance on creating the private service itself, see Create a private service.

Create a hosted O&M service

  1. Log on to the Compute Nest console.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click My Services. On the Created Services tab, click Create Service.

  3. Select Build Custom Service, then select Hosted O&M Service as the service type. Click Next: Configure Settings.

  4. In the Basic Information section, configure the service details.

    Important

After you publish a service, you can update the permission setting on the Service Details page without creating a new service version.

PrivateOnly customers whose account IDs are in the customer whitelist of the deployment URL can access the service or create instances. To manage the whitelist, see Modify the permissions on service deployment.
HiddenThe service details page is not visible to customers outside the whitelist. They see a message indicating the service does not exist.
  7. Click Create Service. In the dialog box, select the check boxes and click OK.

After the service is created, click View Service or Test Service Now.

Verify the results
