Cloud Monitor:Data storage schemes for Hybrid Cloud Monitoring

Last Updated:Jun 02, 2026

Hybrid Cloud Monitoring supports three storage schemes for namespace monitoring data: Prometheus service storage, Simple Log Service (SLS) storage, and Cloud Monitor storage. As of June 10, 2025, only Prometheus service storage is available for new namespaces.

Note
  • After 00:00:00 (UTC+8) on June 10, 2025, you can no longer create namespaces that use Simple Log Service storage or Cloud Monitor storage.

Prometheus service storage

Prometheus service storage is the only supported storage scheme for new namespaces as of June 10, 2025. Monitoring data is stored in a Prometheus instance in your account.

When you create a namespace in Hybrid Cloud Monitoring, a Prometheus instance is created by default in the China (Hangzhou) region. The instance name uses the format cmee-Namespace name.

Note
  • To use the Prometheus service for the first time, activate the service as prompted. For more information, see Activate the Prometheus service.

  • Prometheus instances created via the Hybrid Cloud Monitoring console or API are free, including the data stored in them.

  • Prometheus instances created in Hybrid Cloud Monitoring cannot be modified or deleted using the Prometheus console or API.

Simple Log Service storage (no longer available for new resources)

Monitoring data is stored in Simple Log Service (SLS) in your Alibaba Cloud account.

When you create a namespace in Hybrid Cloud Monitoring, SLS creates a project and a Metricstore in the China (Hangzhou) region by default. The project name uses the format cms-hybrid-Alibaba Cloud account ID-Region ID-random number (four letters and digits). The Metricstore is named after the namespace. You can access this monitoring data from the SLS console or API in addition to the Hybrid Cloud Monitoring console, and use SLS features to process the data.

Metricstores and projects created by Hybrid Cloud Monitoring cannot be deleted using the SLS console or API.

Note
  • After 00:00:00 (UTC+8) on June 10, 2025, you can no longer create namespaces that use Simple Log Service storage.

  • To use SLS for the first time, click Activate Now and activate the service as prompted. For more information, see Activate Simple Log Service.

  • Projects and Metricstores created via the Hybrid Cloud Monitoring console or API are free, including the data stored in them.

  • If you process stored monitoring data using the SLS console or API, charges apply based on SLS billing standards. For more information, see Billing overview.

  • For more information about storing Hybrid Cloud Monitoring data in SLS, see Hybrid Cloud Monitoring logs and Enable the log dump feature for Hybrid Cloud Monitoring.

Cloud Monitor storage (no longer available for new resources)

Monitoring data is stored in the private storage space provided by Cloud Monitor and can be accessed only from the Cloud Monitor console.

Note
  • After 00:00:00 (UTC+8) on June 10, 2025, you can no longer create namespaces that use Cloud Monitor storage.
