    This topic describes the regions and zones supported by ApsaraDB for ClickHouse.

    Background information

    Select a region

    When you create an ApsaraDB for ClickHouse cluster, select a region based on the factors that are described in the following table. If you select an unsupported region, you can create a cluster in a supported region and migrate data from the source cluster to the new cluster. After the migration, you can release the source cluster. For more information, see Migrate data between ApsaraDB for ClickHouse Community-compatible Edition clusters and Delete a cluster.

    Description

    Geographical locations of ApsaraDB for ClickHouse clusters and users

    • If you want to provide a good experience for users who access an ApsaraDB for ClickHouse cluster, you must consider the network latency between the users and the cluster. Geographical distance and the quality of communication links affect network latency.

    • A region that is closer to the geographical location of users provides lower latency and higher access speed.

    • We recommend that you select a region based on your business requirements for network latency.

    Requirements for communication between cloud services over the internal network

    When ApsaraDB for ClickHouse and other cloud services are in the same region, you can use the virtual private cloud (VPC) endpoint to access ApsaraDB for ClickHouse. This does not generate data transfer fees and provides higher access speed than the access over the Internet.

    Important

    If you purchased a cloud network service to connect cloud services, ignore this factor.

    • If you do not want cloud services to communicate with each other over the internal network, deploy the services in different regions or in the same region.

    • If you want cloud services to communicate with each other over the internal network, deploy the services in the same region.

    Features

    When a new feature of ApsaraDB for ClickHouse is released, public previews of the feature are launched in specific regions. If you want to try the new feature, you must create an ApsaraDB for ClickHouse cluster in one of the supported regions.
