Bastionhost:Host O&M

Last Updated:Mar 31, 2026

Use the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) portal to log on as a local user, view the assets you have permissions for, and perform remote O&M tasks. This topic covers how to:

  • Start a web remote connection to a host.

  • Transfer files using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) through CloudDisk.

Supported editions

Enterprise Edition and SM Edition.

Basic Edition does not support O&M portal access. To use this feature, upgrade your instance to the corresponding version. See Upgrade instance type.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A host created in your Bastionhost instance (created by your administrator)

  • A local user account (not a RAM user) with permissions for the required assets and asset accounts (granted by your administrator)

For setup instructions, see Add hosts, Manage users, and Authorize users or user groups to manage assets and asset accounts.

Connect to a host

  1. Log on to the O&M portal of your Bastionhost instance. See Log on to the O&M portal.

  2. In the left navigation bar, click Host.

  3. In the host list, find the target host and click Remote Connection in the Remote Connection column.

If the host does not appear in the list, confirm with your administrator that the host has been created and that your account has the required permissions.
  4. In the Remote Connection dialog box, select an account from Host Account and click Web Remote Connection.

  5. On the O&M web page, perform your O&M tasks.

Transfer files over RDP

How it works

RDP file transfers are routed through CloudDisk. Files cannot be transferred directly between your local device and the host.

  • To upload a file to a host: Save the file to CloudDisk first, then download it from CloudDisk to the host.

  • To download a file from a host: Upload the file from the host to CloudDisk, then download it from CloudDisk to your local device.
