When your current Bastionhost configuration no longer meets your operations and maintenance (O&M) requirements, upgrade the instance to increase capacity or switch to a higher edition.
Limitations
Upgrade only: Editions and specifications can only be scaled up, not down. Downgrades are not supported after an upgrade.
Edition path: Basic Edition can be upgraded to Enterprise Edition. Enterprise Edition cannot be upgraded to a different edition, but you can still increase its assets, bandwidth, and storage capacity.
What you can upgrade
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Edition | Upgrade from Basic Edition to Enterprise Edition. Different editions support different features. For a full comparison, see Functions and features. |

| Storage capacity | Valid range: 0–500 TB, in increments of 1 TB. |
Upgrade a Bastionhost instance
During the upgrade, the instance enters the Updating Configuration state. The upgrade takes 20 minutes, with a service interruption of about 1 minute. Schedule upgrades during off-peak hours to minimize impact.
Log on to the Bastionhost console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Edition & Enterprise Edition.
On the Instances page, find the instance you want to upgrade, then click Upgrade.
On the bastionhost | Upgrade/Downgrade page, set the parameters for the upgrade.
ImportantBasic Edition supports a maximum of 500 assets. Setting the Assets parameter to a value greater than 500 automatically switches the instance to Enterprise Edition.
Read and accept the Terms of Service, click Buy Now, and complete the payment.
After the upgrade completes, the instance retains its original lifecycle.
