Bastionhost:Renewal, Upgrade or Downgrade, Refund, and Release Issues

Last Updated:Mar 12, 2026

This topic describes Bastionhost renewal, upgrade or downgrade, refund, and release issues.

How is Bastionhost version upgrade or instance type upgrade charged?

When you upgrade Bastionhost version (such as Basic Edition to Enterprise Dual-Engine Edition) or increase quota for a package, you are charged the price difference based on the remaining time of the current order. The upgrade order fee determines the specific cost.

How do I update Bastionhost to the latest version?

If you use V3.2, the product undergoes minor version iterations regularly. For more information, see Version Upgrade Announcements. During the upgrade window, you can configure the upgrade time as needed. If you do not specify an upgrade time, the system automatically upgrades at the default time. To avoid affecting your business, you can configure the upgrade time based on your business needs. For more information, see V3.2 Version Upgrade Configuration Guide.

How do I upgrade to Enterprise Dual-Engine Edition?

Important

Only Bastionhost V3.2 supports Enterprise Dual-Engine Edition.

  • If your Bastionhost is on the Basic Edition, go to the Alibaba Cloud Security Bastionhost console, click Instances, and then click Upgrade. On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, select the Enterprise Dual-Engine Edition. For detailed steps, see Upgrade Instance Specifications.

  • If your Bastionhost is V3.1, you need to upgrade to V3.2.

  • If your Bastionhost is running Version V2, you must first upgrade to Version V3.1 and then upgrade from Version V3.1 to Version V3.2.

Does upgrading Bastionhost affect your business?

When you upgrade Bastionhost version (such as Basic Edition to Enterprise Dual-Engine Edition) or upgrade asset specifications (such as 50 assets to 100 assets), you may experience transient disconnections or other issues if you use the Bastionhost console or perform O&M operations. The business impact typically lasts about 30 minutes. You can perform upgrade/downgrade operations during off-peak hours.

How do I downgrade Bastionhost?

Bastionhost does not support downgrades.

Can I continue to use Bastionhost after it expires?

  • Within 7 days after the Bastionhost expires—for China and for international regions, respectively—you can use it normally. After 7 days—for China and for international regions, respectively—the Bastionhost will be automatically released, and you cannot continue to use it.

  • If Bastionhost expires but is not released, you can perform O&M operations normally, and operations are auditable. However, you cannot configure or view logs in the Alibaba Cloud Security Bastionhost console. To avoid affecting your O&M business, you can renew promptly. For more information, see Renewal policy.

How do I release Bastionhost?

Normally, a bastion host is automatically released 7 days after it expires. No manual operations are required. After the bastion host is released, your configuration and audit data are cleared. If you want to continue using the bastion host, renew it at the earliest opportunity. For more information, see Renewal policy.
