Potential impacts

During an upgrade, your bastion host enters the Updating Configuration state. The upgrade takes approximately 20 minutes, and your workloads may be interrupted for approximately 1 minute. Schedule upgrades during off-peak hours to minimize disruption.

Before you begin

Before upgrading your bastion host, note the following:

• When a new version is released, the Bastionhost console displays an update notification showing the start time of the expected maintenance window.

  

• Before the upgrade, Bastionhost notifies you by SMS, email, or internal message.

• If you take no action, Bastionhost automatically upgrades your bastion host during the system-determined maintenance window.

Manual update

Manually upgrade your bastion host to the latest version within the available maintenance window.

1. Log on to the Bastionhost console.

2. In the bastion host list, find the bastion host to upgrade and click Manually Upgrade.

3. In the Upgrade Version panel, confirm the ID of the bastion host, then click OK.

Automatic update

Configure a maintenance window so that Bastionhost automatically upgrades your bastion host at a scheduled time.

1. Log on to the Bastionhost console.

2. In the bastion host list, find the bastion host to upgrade and click Automatically Upgrade.

3. In the Upgrade Version panel, configure the Update Time parameter, then click OK.

   Parameter	Description
   Default Time	Select a system-defined maintenance window from the available options. Choose the window that has the least impact on your workloads. If you skip this selection, Bastionhost upgrades your bastion host during the system-determined maintenance window.
   Custom Time	Specify a custom maintenance window. The start time and end time must be time frames, and the window must be a multiple of 2 hours.

After you configure the maintenance window, it appears in the Bastionhost console.
