Alibaba Cloud Prometheus Service Pro Edition supports the subscription billing method. This topic describes the limits on the billing method and the billable items of Prometheus Service Pro Edition.

Billable items
You are charged for Prometheus Service based on the capacity of your Prometheus instances and the storage duration of your data samples. Different Prometheus instance types support different capacity options. The following table describes the capacity options.
Capacity options
Prometheus instance for Container Service
The Prometheus instance for Container Service type provides capacity options based on the number of nodes deployed in your cluster. For example, if you deploy 10 nodes in your cluster, you can select the medium capacity, large capacity, and extra large capacity, but cannot select the small capacity. Prometheus instance for Remote Write, ECS, and Flink Serverless

Storage duration
You can store metrics for one month, three months, or six months. If you select 1 Month as the storage duration when you purchase a Prometheus instance, you can change the storage duration to 3 months or 6 months. Usage notes
- If the number of reported data samples exceeds the capacity of a Prometheus instance, Prometheus Service performs throttling on the data samples that you can report to ensure service stability. You can also change the capacity of the Prometheus instance. On the Prometheus Service page, find the Prometheus instance and choose in the Actions column.
- The metrics are classified into two types: basic metrics and custom metrics. For more information, see Basic metrics. Custom metrics refer to non-basic metrics.
Free trial
The first time that you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance, you can use Prometheus Service free of charge for one month. You can log on to Trial Center to obtain a free trial.
- Prerequisites: To apply for a one-month free trial for a subscription Prometheus instance, the following conditions must be met:
- This is the first time that you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance.
- The medium or small capacity is selected.
- The storage duration is set to 1 Month.
Important Each Alibaba Cloud account can apply for only one free trial for a subscription Prometheus instance. If the first Prometheus instance that you create does not meet the preceding requirements, you can no longer apply for a free trial. - Free-trial period: the subscription duration, which is the first month since the subscription Prometheus instance is purchased.
- If you select Auto-renewal on the buy page, you are automatically billed for the Prometheus instance after the free trial ends.
- If you select Auto-renewal on the buy page, you can manually renew the Prometheus instance after the free trial ends. For more information, see How do I renew a subscription instance? . If you do not renew the Prometheus instance after the free trial ends, the billing method is switched to pay-as-you-go. For more information, see Pay-as-you-go.
Billing cycle
The billing cycle of a subscription Prometheus instance is the amount of time to which you commit when you purchase the instance (based on UTC+8:00). The billing cycle starts at the time when the subscription Prometheus instance is purchased or renewed (accurate to the second) and ends at 00:00:00 on the day after the expiration date.
