Managed Service for Prometheus provides the Pro Edition, which supports the pay-as-you-go and subscription billing methods. The following table describes the billing methods.

Billable items

Pay-as-you-go

You are charged for Managed Service for Prometheus based on the number of reported data samples of metrics and the storage duration of each data sample.

• Data samples: You are not charged a data reporting fee for the data samples of basic metrics. You are charged a data reporting fee only for the data samples of custom metrics.

  Metric type	Pro Edition (pay-as-you-go)
  Basic metric	Free of charge.
  Custom metric	You are charged a data reporting fee for the data samples of custom metrics. For more information, see Pay-as-you-go.

• Storage duration: You are charged a data storage fee based on the storage duration of basic metrics and custom metrics. By default, each data sample is stored for 15 days. If you want to store data for a longer duration, you can modify the Storage Days parameter on the Storage Duration tab based on your business requirements. For more information, see Pay-as-you-go.

  Basic metric	If the storage duration exceeds 15 days, you are charged USD 0.01 for every one million data samples per day.
  Custom metric

Subscription

You are charged for Managed Service for Prometheus based on the capacity of a Prometheus instance and the storage duration of a data sample. The following Prometheus instance types support the subscription billing method: Prometheus instance for Container Service, general-purpose Prometheus instance, Prometheus instance for Flink Serverless, and Prometheus instance for ECS.   • Prometheus instance for Container Service

    Prometheus instances for Container Service provide capacity options based on the number of nodes deployed in your cluster. For example, if you deploy 10 nodes in your cluster, you can select the medium capacity, large capacity, and extra large capacity, but cannot select the small capacity.     Small	1~5	3 billion	For example, you have deployed 4 nodes in your cluster and you need to report 3 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select the small capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance for Container Service.
    Medium	6~20	10 billion	For example, you have deployed 10 nodes in your cluster and you need to report 8 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select the medium capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance for Container Service.
    Large	21~50	25 billion	For example, you have deployed 30 nodes in your cluster and you need to report 20 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select the large capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance for Container Service.
    Extra large	51~200	60 billion	For example, you have deployed 100 nodes in your cluster and you need to report 50 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select the extra large capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance for Container Service.
    Custom	More than 200	For every 20 additional nodes, you can report 10 billion custom metrics per month.	For example, you have deployed 260 nodes in your cluster and you need to report 70 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select a custom capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance for Container Service.

  • General-purpose Prometheus instance, Prometheus instance for Flink Serverless, and Prometheus instance for ECS

    You can configure the custom capacity for the preceding Prometheus instance types. For more information, see Billing of general-purpose Prometheus instances, Prometheus instances for ECS, and Prometheus instances for Flink Serverless.

    Capacity	Number of data samples that can be reported for custom metrics per month	Description
    Small	3 billion	For example, you need to report 3 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select the small capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance.
    Medium	10 billion	For example, you need to report 8 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select the medium capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance.
    Large	25 billion	For example, you need to report 20 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select the large capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance.
    Extra large	60 billion	For example, you need to report 50 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select the extra large capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance.
    Custom	More than 60 billion	You can configure the number of data samples that you can report for custom metrics. For example, you need to report 80 billion data samples for custom metrics each month. We recommend that you select the custom capacity when you purchase a subscription Prometheus instance.

  If the number of reported data samples exceeds the capacity of a Prometheus instance, Managed Service for Prometheus performs throttling on the data samples that you can report to ensure service stability. If the number of reported data samples exceeds the capacity of a Prometheus instance, Managed Service for Prometheus performs throttling on the data samples that you can report to ensure service stability. You can also change the capacity of the Prometheus instance. On the Instances page, find the Prometheus instance and choose Service Change > Specification Upgrade in the Actions column.

• Storage duration

  You can store metrics for one month, three months, or six months. If you select 1 Month as the storage duration when you purchase a Prometheus instance, you can change the storage duration to 3 months or 6 months.   Note

  Managed Service for Prometheus automatically clears the historical metrics that exceed the storage duration.
