Synthetic Monitoring Pro Edition uses pay-as-you-go billing. You are charged based on the number of synthetic tests you run. Bills are generated daily and fees are deducted from your Alibaba Cloud account balance.
Since June 1, 2024, Synthetic Monitoring no longer accepts new activations for pay-as-you-go or subscription billing. This page applies only to existing users. For details, see Discontinuation of the activation of Synthetic Monitoring.
Billing
Free quota
Every month, Synthetic Monitoring Pro Edition provides 3,000 free synthetic tests for detection points deployed in data centers or Lastmile.
Synthetic tests initiated from regions outside the Chinese mainland consume quota at five times the actual number of tests. For example, 200 tests from a China (Hong Kong) detection point consume 1,000 tests from your monthly quota.
Pricing
The unit price per synthetic test depends on the detection point type and geolocation.
| Detection point type | Geolocation | Unit price (USD per test) |
|---|---|---|
| PC (data center and Lastmile) | Chinese mainland | 0.0046 |
| PC (data center and Lastmile) | Regions outside the Chinese mainland | 0.023 |
| Cloud host | Chinese mainland | 0.00015 |
| Cloud host | Regions outside the Chinese mainland | 0.00015 |
| Mobile device (3G and 4G only) | Chinese mainland | 0.0124 |

Billing example
A task uses two PC detection points in the Chinese mainland and runs once every 5 minutes (12 times per hour). The daily cost before applying the free quota:
Daily tests = 24 hours x 12 tests/hour x 2 detection points = 576 tests
Daily cost = 576 tests x USD 0.0046/test = USD 2.6496Over a 30-day month, this task generates 17,280 tests total. After subtracting the 3,000-test monthly free quota, the billable amount is 14,280 tests.
Monthly cost = 14,280 tests x USD 0.0046/test = USD 65.688Billing cycle
The billing cycle for ARMS is one day. Starting at 00:00 each day, ARMS calculates the resource usage from the previous day. Bills are typically generated on the morning of the settlement day. After a bill is generated, the system automatically deducts the fees from your account if your balance is sufficient. You can view your bills on the Expenses and Costs page and your resource usage in the ARMS console. For more information, see Resource usage and bills.
