Learn how to set a custom login URL for Alibaba Mail by adding a domain, configuring a CNAME record, and enabling the custom address.
To use a custom login address with Alibaba Mail, add your domain, configure a CNAME record in your DNS provider, then enable the address. If you need HTTPS access, also upload an SSL certificate.
Set up a custom login address
Log in to the Alibaba Mail domain management page using the postmaster account.
On the Customization- Personalization page, click Add domain.
In the CNAME settings section, click Settings and follow the on-screen instructions to add the CNAME record in your DNS provider. After the record propagates, click Refresh.
The following example uses the Alibaba Cloud DNS console. Add a CNAME record with the host name of your choice (for example, mail, webmail, or login) and paste the CNAME value provided by Alibaba Mail.
Troubleshooting: custom login address not accessible
If the custom login address does not work after you complete the CNAME configuration, check the following:
CNAME record — Verify that the CNAME record value in your DNS provider exactly matches the value provided by Alibaba Mail. An incorrect or missing CNAME record prevents the address from resolving.
DNS propagation — DNS changes take time to propagate. The propagation time depends on the TTL value configured at your DNS provider. Wait for propagation to complete before testing the address again.
Plan eligibility — The custom login address feature is available to paid plan users only. Free Edition users cannot use a custom login address and should use the default Alibaba Mail login page to access their mailbox.
The Filling status field does not apply to Alibaba Mail domains. Leave it blank.
After the CNAME record propagates, enable the switch for the address you want to use as the default login URL. If you have configured multiple login addresses, only one can be active at a time.
Log in to Webmail using your custom address in the format mail.yourdomain. When the configuration is active, the login succeeds.
Addresses that have not been configured and enabled cannot be used to log in.
