Alibaba Cloud supports multiple identity authentication methods to meet the security requirements for different user roles, such as root account owners, enterprise employees, and federated users. This document describes how to log on to the Alibaba Cloud console using an Alibaba Cloud account or a third-party account.
An Alibaba Cloud account has full access to all resources under it and has the highest permissions. To protect your assets, log on with this account only when necessary. For daily operations and maintenance (O&M), use a Resource Access Management (RAM) user instead. For more information, see Step 4: Create a RAM user as an administrator.
Method 1: Log on with an Alibaba Cloud account
Scenarios
The account creator or administrator needs to perform high-privilege operations, such as changing payment methods, resetting service keys, or managing the organization structure.
You are logging on for the first time after registration, or you need to complete key steps such as account attachment or identity verification.
Procedure
Go to the Alibaba Cloud account logon page.
Enter the account name (usually the email address or phone number used for registration) and password.
Click Log On to complete the logon.
Method 2: Log on with a third-party account (Google or GitHub)
Scenarios
You have attached your Alibaba Cloud account to Google or GitHub and want a quick and easy way to log on. This is especially useful for developers and open source project collaboration.
Your company has a unified identity authentication system, such as single sign-on (SSO), that allows seamless access through a third-party platform.
Manage attached accounts: You can view and manage your attached third-party accounts in the Alibaba Cloud Management Console.
Google account
Go to the Alibaba Cloud account logon page.
Below the logon box, click the Google icon.
The page redirects to the Google authentication interface. Follow the prompts to enter your Google account information (email and password).
If multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled, complete the additional verification step.
After you grant Alibaba Cloud access to your basic information, you are automatically redirected to the console and logged on.
GitHub account
Go to the Alibaba Cloud account logon page.
Below the logon box, click the GitHub icon.
The page redirects to the GitHub authentication interface. Enter your GitHub username or email and password.

Can I merge accounts that are attached to the same phone number?
No. Alibaba Cloud accounts are independent and cannot be merged. When you log on, select the account that you want to use.
How many Alibaba Cloud accounts can I attach to one third-party account?
You can attach only one Alibaba Cloud account to a third-party account. However, you can attach multiple third-party accounts to one Alibaba Cloud account.
What do I do if I cannot log on because my virtual MFA is unavailable or because of an IP mask restriction?
If you cannot log on because your virtual MFA is unavailable or because of an IP mask restriction, go to the Alibaba Cloud logon page, click Having trouble logging on?, select Account logon failed, and submit the required appeal materials. After a support engineer verifies your identity, the MFA is unbound or the IP mask restriction is cleared.
