Dashboards

Dashboard function of the CloudMonitor supports custom display of monitoring data. You can view this data on the dashboard across all products and instances. It displays instances for various products in a centralized manner.

View dashboards

Scenario

Dashboards give you quick but comprehensive understanding about the monitoring data of various cloud product instances. This is how you can understand the resource usage of various cloud products.

Note:

  • By default, CloudMonitor initializes ECS Global Dashboard and displays ECS monitoring data.

  • You can add monitoring metrics of other cloud products in a customized manner.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.

  2. Click the Dashboard option in the left-side navigation pane to access the Dashboard page.

    By default, ECS Global Dashboard initialized by CloudMonitor is displayed.

  3. Click the monitoring dashboard name and select another monitoring dashboard from the drop-down list.

Create a dashboard

Scenario

You can create new monitoring dashboard and customize the display charts, when your business operations are complex and the default ECS monitoring dashboards do not meet monitoring visualization requirements.

Note: Each chart can display a maximum of 10 lines. If you have defined more than 10 lines for a chart, the first 10 lines are displayed by default.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.

  2. Click the Dashboard option in the left-side navigation pane to access the Dashboard page.

  3. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Create Monitoring Dashboard.

  4. Enter the name of the monitoring dashboard, and click Create to complete the action.

The page is automatically redirected to the new monitoring dashboard page where you can add various metric charts, as per the requirement.

Add a chart

Scenario

You can add major cloud product metrics and user business metrics to the monitoring dashboards.

If you use multiple types of cloud products for your application, you can add cloud product metrics to the same monitoring dashboard. You can do this by adding charts. This can help you to view cloud product metrics globally.

When you report your business metric data on the CloudMonitor API, you can add a monitoring chart to display the monitoring data in a visualized manner.

Procedure

Switch dashboards

Scenario

If you create multiple monitoring dashboards, you can view the monitoring charts of different dashboards by switching between the monitoring dashboards.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.

  2. Click the Dashboard option in the left-side navigation pane to access the Dashboard page.

  3. Click the name of a monitoring dashboard in the Current Dashboard drop-down.

All monitoring dashboards created by you are displayed. You can switch to another dashboard by selecting the name of that dashboard.

Delete a dashboard

Scenario

You can delete a monitoring dashboard as per your business requirements.

Note:

  • When you delete a monitoring dashboard, all monitoring charts that are added to the dashboards are deleted.

  • Monitoring data cannot be restored once being deleted. Hence, be careful before deleting any monitoring dashboard.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.
  1. Click the Dashboard option in the left-side navigation pane to access the Dashboard page.

  2. Click Delete Current Dashboard in the upper-right corner of the page. With this action, the dashboard is deleted.

Modify a dashboard

Scenario

You can modify a monitoring dashboard if you want to change its name as the content of the monitoring dashboard changes.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.
  1. Click the Dashboard option in the left-side navigation pane to access the Dashboard page.

  2. You can view the Change Name option when hovering the mouse over the monitoring dashboard title. Click Change Name to change the name.
