Dashboards

Dashboard function of the CloudMonitor supports custom display of monitoring data. You can view this data on the dashboard across all products and instances. It displays instances for various products, in a centralized manner.

View dashboards

Application scenario

Dashboards give you quick but comprehensive understanding about the monitoring data of various cloud product instances. This is how you can understand the resource usage of various cloud products.

Note:

  • By default, CloudMonitor initializes ECS Global Dashboard and displays ECS monitoring data.

  • You can add monitoring metrics of other cloud products in a customized manner.

Operation procedure

  1. Log on to the CloudMonitor Console.

  2. Click the Dashboard option in the left navigation bar to access the Dashboard page.

    By default, ECS Global Dashboard initialized by CloudMonitor is displayed.

  3. Click the monitoring dashboard name and select another monitoring dashboard, from the drop-down list.

Create a dashboard

Application scenario

You can create new monitoring dashboard and customize the display charts, when your business operations are complex and the default ECS monitoring dashboards does not meet monitoring visualization requirements.

Note: Each chart can display maximum 10 lines. The first 10 lines are displayed by default, if you have defined more than 10 lines for a chart.

Operation procedure

  1. Log on to the CloudMonitor Console.

  2. Click the Dashboard option in the left navigation bar to access the Dashboard page.

  3. In the top-right corner of the page, click Create Monitoring Dashboard.

  4. Enter the name of the monitoring dashboard, and click Create to complete the action.

The page is automatically redirected to the new monitoring dashboard page where you can add various metric charts, as per the requirement.

Add a chart

Application scenario

You can now add major cloud product metrics and user business metrics to monitoring dashboards.

If you use multiple types of cloud products for your application, you can add cloud product metrics to the same monitoring dashboard. You can do this by adding charts. This will help you to view cloud product metrics globally.

When you report your business metric data on the CloudMonitor API, you can add a monitoring chart to display the monitoring data in a visualized manner.

Operation procedure

Switch dashboards

Application scenario

If you create multiple monitoring dashboards, you can view the monitoring charts of different dashboards by switching between the monitoring dashboards.

Operation procedure

  1. Log on to the CloudMonitor Console.

  2. Click the Dashboard option in the left navigation bar to access the Dashboard page.

  3. Click the name of a monitoring dashboard in the Current Dashboard drop-down.

All monitoring dashboards created by you will be displayed. You can switch to another dashboard by selecting the name of that dashboard.

Delete a dashboard

Application scenario

You can delete a monitoring dashboard as per your business requirements.

Note:

  • When you delete a monitoring dashboard, all monitoring charts that are added to the dashboards will be deleted.

  • You will not be able to restore the data, once the monitoring data is deleted. Hence, you have to be careful before deleting any monitoring dashboard.

Operation procedure

  1. Log on to the 1. Log on to the CloudMonitor Console.
  1. Click the Dashboard option in the left navigation bar to access the Dashboard page.

  2. Click Delete Current Dashboard which is at the top-right corner of the page. With this action, the dashboard will be deleted.

Modify a dashboard

Application scenario

You can modify a monitoring dashboard if you need to change the name of it as the content of the monitoring dashboard changes.

Operation procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor Console.
  1. Click the Dashboard option in the left navigation bar, to access the Dashboard page.

  2. You can view Change Name option when hover the mouse over the monitoring dashboard title. Click Change Name to edit and modify the name.
