In Data Management (DMS), common users can apply for and release permissions. DMS administrators, database administrators (DBAs), or database owners can grant common users the permissions on specific instances and revoke these permissions. In addition, a DMS administrator can grant permissions to or revoke permissions from multiple common users at a time.

Apply for permissions as a common user

This section shows you how to apply for the query permission on a database as a common user. For more information, see Permission management.

  1. Log on to the DMS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, move the pointer over the More icon and choose Permission > Database-Permission.
  3. On the Permission Application Ticket tab, enter the prefix of a database name in the field, set the parameters as required, and then click Search.
  4. Select the database on which you want to apply for permissions from the matched results and click Add. The database appears in the Selected Databases/Tables/Columns section.

  5. In the Select Permission section, set the parameters as required and click Submit. The following table describes the parameters.

    Parameter Description
    Permission The type of permission for which you want to apply. Valid values: Query, Export, and Change.
    Note You can select one or more permission types.
    Duration The validity period of the selected one or more permissions.
    Reason The description of the business background and the reason for this application. This reduces unnecessary communication and facilitates the approval process.
    Note After a permission application ticket is submitted, wait until the ticket is approved. You can view the status of the ticket in the My Tickets section of the Workbench tab.

Release permissions as a common user

As a common user, you can release permissions before the permissions expire. This section describes how to release permissions on a database within the validity period.

  1. Log on to the DMS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, move the pointer over the More icon and choose Permission > Permissions.
  3. On the Permissions tab, enter the prefix of a database name in the field, set the parameters as required, and then click Search.
  4. Select the database on which you want to release permissions from the matched results and click Release Permission.

  5. In the Permission Operation dialog box, select one or more types of permissions that you want to release and click OK.

Manage the permissions of a user as a DMS administrator

This section shows you how to grant a user the permissions on a database and revoke these permissions as a DMS administrator.

  1. Log on to the DMS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, move the pointer over the More icon and choose System > User.
    To grant permissions, perform the following steps:
    1. Find the user to whom you want to grant permissions, move the pointer over Authorize in the Actions column, and then select Authorize database.

    2. In the Authorize database dialog box, set the parameters as required and click OK. The following table describes the parameters.

      Authorized Database The database on which you want to grant the specified user permissions.
      Note You can select one or more databases.
      Permission The type of permission that you want to grant. Valid values: Query, Export, and Change.
      Note You can select one or more permission types.
      Expire Date The date on which the selected one or more permissions expire.
    To revoke permissions, perform the following steps:
    1. Find the user whose permissions you want to revoke and click Permission in the Actions column.

    2. In the User Permissions dialog box, select the database on which you want to revoke permissions and click Release Permission.

    3. In the Permission Operation dialog box, select one or more types of permissions that you want to revoke and click OK.

Manage permissions on a database as a DBA

This section shows you how to grant a user the permissions on a database and revoke these permissions as a DBA. The operations in this section can also be performed by a DMS administrator.

  1. Log on to the DMS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, move the pointer over the More icon and choose System > Instance.
  3. Find the instance where the database you want to manage resides and click Details in the Actions column.
  4. On the Database List tab, find the database that you want to manage, move the pointer over More in the Actions column, and then select Permission Management.

    1. In the Permission Management dialog box, click Grant Permissions on Database.

    2. In the Permission Operation dialog box, select one or more types of permissions that you want to revoke and click OK.

Manage permissions on a database as a database owner

This section shows you how to grant a user the permissions on a database and revoke these permissions as a database owner. The operations in this section can also be performed by a DMS administrator.

  1. Log on to the DMS console.
  2. In the Owned Databases/Tables section of the Workbench tab, click Logical/Physical DB.

  3. On the Owned Databases/Tables tab, find the database that you want to manage and click Permission Management in the Actions column.
