On May 22, 2025, Alibaba Cloud Indonesia hosted an engaging and interactive session focused on exploring the cutting-edge capabilities of Alibaba Cloud’s Qwen Large Language Model (LLM), with a special emphasis on agentic systems and building intelligent AI workflows using Dify. The event brought together participants eager to learn how generative AI can revolutionize business processes through automation, intelligence, and seamless integration.
The session was designed to provide both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience. Attendees were introduced to the concept of agentic AI, where autonomous agents powered by Qwen can make decisions, perform actions, and interact with external systems to achieve specific goals. We also conducted a deep dive into Dify, a powerful platform for building custom AI applications without the need for extensive coding, allowing developers and non-developers alike to create intelligent workflows tailored to their business needs.
As the foundation of our workshop, we began with an overview of Qwen, Alibaba Cloud’s state-of-the-art large language model series. With multiple versions and models available that accepts multiple inputs including Text, Audio, Video, and Image, Qwen offers performance across natural language understanding, reasoning, code generation, and multilingual support—making it ideal for developing next-generation AI applications.
We explored how Qwen’s agentic architecture enables the creation of autonomous systems capable of:
• Perceiving inputs from users or environments
• Reasoning about tasks and planning steps
• Acting by interacting with databases, APIs, and other tools
• Learning from feedback to improve future interactions
This makes Qwen particularly effective for use cases like intelligent assistants, automated customer engagement, and data-driven decision-making tools.
A major highlight of the event was the hands-on lab session, where participants used Dify to build a real-world AI workflow application powered by Qwen. Dify allows users to design AI agents that combine prompts, knowledge bases, and integrations with external services—all through a user-friendly interface.
• Understanding the components of an AI workflow
• Configuring Qwen-powered agents using Dify
• Connecting to external data sources (e.g., databases, APIs)
• Designing conversational interfaces for end-users
• Testing and refining agent behavior based on real-time feedback
Participants walked away with a working prototype of an AI assistant that could interact with a database containing sales activity records and provide actionable insights upon request.
To demonstrate the practical value of combining Qwen and Dify, we showcased a sample application: an AI-powered Sales Insights Assistant. This tool connects to a database of historical sales data and allows users to ask natural language questions such as:
• “What were the top-performing products last quarter?”
• “Which regions showed the most growth compared to the previous year?”
• “Show me the average deal size per sales rep.”

The assistant leverages Qwen’s strong reasoning capabilities and contextual understanding to analyze the data, generate summaries, and even suggest follow-up questions or recommendations.
• Real-Time Insights: Instantly retrieves and interprets data from complex datasets.
• Scalability: Easily integrates with new data sources and expands functionality as needed.
• Customizability: Tailored dashboards and reports can be generated based on user roles or preferences.
