This project is from team Pets Life, which was awarded the Second Prize in the 2025 Quick BI Global Data Visualization Hackathon.
This Pet Retail Business Intelligence Dashboard was designed to provide a comprehensive, data-driven view of business performance across multiple dimensions. It consolidates key metrics such as revenue, gross profit, transactions, and average transaction value (ATV), while highlighting top-performing stores and online portals.

The dashboard enables clear visibility into channel performance, customer segments, and store/portal contributions, supported by geographic mapping and flow analysis. Additionally, it provides a deep dive into product performance, including revenue by pet category (dogs, cats, birds, rodents), product category (food, accessories, toys, treats), and brand share.
By combining overall indicators, channel analysis, and product insights into a single interactive view, this dashboard serves as a decision-making tool to identify growth opportunities, optimize sales channels, and strengthen product strategies in the pet retail business.

The main value of this project is its ability to transform complex sales and operational data into clear, actionable insights that drive better decision-making. By consolidating key indicators such as revenue, profit, and transactions, alongside store, portal, and product performance, the dashboard provides a holistic view of the pet retail business. This enables quick identification of top-performing channels, brands, and categories, while also highlighting customer and geographic trends. Ultimately, it empowers management to allocate resources effectively, refine strategies, and maximize profitability with data-driven precision.
This project not only demonstrates technical skills in data integration, visualization, and business intelligence design, but also showcases the ability to translate raw data into meaningful insights that drive strategic decision-making. The dashboard emphasizes clarity, usability, and relevance, ensuring that both management and operational teams can quickly identify opportunities and risks. It highlights the potential of data analytics in retail to improve profitability, customer understanding, and resource allocation. Most importantly, the project reflects a practical application of analytics that can be scaled or adapted to other industries beyond pet retail.
This data analysis solution provides a comprehensive view of the pet retail business by integrating multiple data sources into a single interactive dashboard. It simplifies the tracking of key metrics such as revenue, gross profit, and transaction volume, while breaking down performance by store, online portal, product category, and brand. With visual tools like maps, flow diagrams, and ranking boards, the solution uncovers trends in customer behavior, channel effectiveness, and product demand. By presenting these insights in an intuitive format, it supports faster, more informed decisions that improve operational efficiency, strengthen sales strategies, and drive business growth.
1. Strong Revenue Drivers: Dogs and cats contribute the majority of sales, generating $3.04M and $3.03M respectively, showing clear focus areas for product strategy.
2. Best-Performing Channels: Online portals, especially Shopee ($837K), significantly outperform physical stores, highlighting the strength of e-commerce in this sector.
3. Store Insights: The top store, Jurong ($277K), leads physical sales, but revenue distribution across stores shows opportunities to boost underperforming locations.
4. Product Mix: Food dominates revenue (69.9%), followed by accessories (23.2%), with toys and treats forming smaller segments, indicating potential for upselling or diversifying high-margin categories.
5. Brand Wallet Share: Brands like Hill’s (19.9%) and Whiskas (7.6%) capture strong customer loyalty, while many smaller brands occupy niche spaces.
6. Geographic Spread: Revenue is well-distributed across Singapore, but concentrated around major urban centers, offering insights for targeted marketing or store expansion.
7. Profitability Focus: The gross profit of $71,320 alongside transaction trends highlights efficiency gains and the importance of optimizing ATV ($75.17).
Overall, the dashboard highlights the dominance of food products, the rapid rise of online portals, and brand-driven customer loyalty, while also revealing areas where store performance and product mix can be optimized.
My name is Yeo Eng Leng and I was solely responsible for the end-to-end development of this dashboard, from conceptualization and data collection to visual design and final creation. To make the project relatable, I used dummy data from the pet retail industry, as it is relevant to many people. The chosen color scheme was intentionally designed to reflect a love of nature, aligning with the theme I hoped to convey through the dashboard.
