Manage role-based permissions for project sets and projects in Alibaba Cloud DevOps, including creating custom roles and configuring access levels.
Roles configured here control which roles are available in project sets and projects, along with their default permissions. To keep roles and permissions consistent across all projects, go to Project Template Management and enable configuration synchronization.
Roles
Alibaba Cloud DevOps provides two types of roles: project set roles and project roles.

Project set role: Alibaba Cloud DevOps provides two built-in roles: administrator and participant.

Project role: Alibaba Cloud DevOps provides seven built-in roles: administrator, product, participant, development, test, O&M, and project manager.
Manage project permissions

On the Alibaba Cloud DevOps workbench, click Projects. Alternatively, click Projects from the dock menu in the upper-left corner.

Click global settings.

Under , you can manage project set roles and project roles.

Project set role

Under , click New Role to add a new project set role.

Enter a role name and click OK.

Click Edit Role to modify information such as the Role Name, Role Description, and English Name. Then, click OK to save your changes.

Click Configure Permissions to open the Role Permission Settings page, then select the permissions for the role.
For example, select the Project Release Manager role. In the permissions table, under the release module, select the release creation and management and public release view management permissions. An Operation successful message appears to confirm that your changes are saved.

Click Delete Role to delete the role.
Project role

Under , click New Role to create a project role.
The system provides seven default project roles: administrator, product, participant, development, test, O&M, and project manager. You can edit existing roles, configure their permissions, and delete them.

Enter a role name and click New. The role name field is required.

Click Edit Role to modify information such as the role name, role description, and English name, and then click OK to save.

Click Configure Permissions to open the Role Permission Settings page, then select the permissions for the role.
Permissions are grouped by module, such as original ticket, topic, and requirement. Each module contains specific permission items like create, comment, field modification, status modification, change type, content title modification, archive, and delete. You can select individual permissions or use the select all checkbox to grant all permissions in a module.

Click Delete Role to delete the role.
WarningDeleting a role removes it, along with its assigned members, from all associated projects.
