WUYING Workspace:Scale up disks

Last Updated:Apr 07, 2024

As your business develops and application data grows, your disk space may become insufficient. In this case, you can scale up system disks and data disks for larger disk space. This topic describes what a disk scale-up is, what limits are imposed on disk scale-ups, and how to scale up disks.

Background information

Disks

By default, Enterprise Office and General Office cloud computers in WUYING Workspace Pro Edition use ultra disks while Enterprise Graphics, Graphics, and High Frequency cloud computers use enhanced SSDs (ESSDs). The performance levels of the disks are consistent with those in the cloud computer templates. For more information about disk types, see Disk categories. For more information about how to upgrade the performance level of a disk, see Change the performance level of an ESSD.

Limits

The following limits apply for disk scale-ups:

  • Only scale-up is supported. Scale-down is not supported. Disks cannot be scaled down after they are scaled up. We recommend that you properly plan your storage space.

  • The capacity of a system disk ranges from 150 to 500 GiB.

  • The capacity of a data disk ranges from 150 to 2,040 GiB.

Billing

When you scale up the disks of a cloud computer, you are charged for the incremental capacities based on the billing method of the cloud computer. For more information, see Billable items.

  • Subscription cloud computers: You must pay for the incremental capacity based on the remaining subscription duration.

  • Pay-as-you-go cloud computers: The scale-up immediately takes effect and you are charged based on the new capacity immediately after the scale-up.

Prerequisites

Scale up the disks of a single cloud computer

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace (Pro Edition) console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources & Terminals > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Cloud Computers page, find the cloud computer that you want to manage, click the ⋮ icon in the Actions column, and then select Scale Up.

  5. In the Scale Up panel, perform the following operations based on the billing method of the cloud computer:

    Subscription cloud computer

    1. In the Target Disk Size section of the Upgrade tab, set the target capacities of the system disk and data disk, and click Confirm.

    2. In the message that appears, click Confirm.

    3. On the Purchase page, click Subscribe and complete the payment.

    Pay-as-you-go cloud computer

    1. Set the target capacities of the system disk and data disk, and click Modify.

    2. In the message that appears, click OK.

During the scale-up, the cloud computer is in the Upgrading state on the Cloud Computers page. When the status of the cloud computer changes from Upgrading to Stopped, the scale-up is complete.

Scale up the disks of multiple cloud computers

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources & Terminals > Cloud Computers.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. On the Cloud Computers page, select the cloud computers for which you want to scale up disks and choose More > Scale Up in the lower part of the page.

  4. In the Scale Up panel, select the cloud computers for which you want to scale up disks in the Specify Disk Size step, and then click Next.

    Note

You can scale up disks of only cloud computers of the same billing method and specifications. Therefore, if the cloud computers that you selected in the previous step are of different billing methods and specifications, you must separately scale up disks for them.

  5. In the Confirm Disk Size step, perform one of the following operations based on your business requirements and click Confirm.

    • Scale up to the same capacities: If you want to scale up the disks of the selected cloud computers to the same capacities, set the target capacities in the Specify Disk Size section.

    • Scale up to different capacities: If you want to scale up the disks of the selected cloud computers to different capacities, set target capacities for the system disk and data disk for each of the cloud computers in the table.

  6. In the message that appears, click Confirm.

  7. (Optional) If the selected cloud computers are subscription cloud computers, click Subscribe on the Purchase page and follow the instructions on the page to complete the payment.

During the scale-up, the cloud computer is in the Upgrading state on the Cloud Computers page. When the status of the cloud computer changes from Upgrading to Stopped, the scale-up is complete.
