Change details and impact

We would like to inform you of an important protocol service upgrade for Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) starting January 30, 2026, at 23:59 (UTC+8). Please take note of the following timeline: Starting December 5, 2025, at 23:59 (UTC+8), you will no longer be able to purchase or create new cloud computer instances using the HDX protocol. Starting January 30, 2026, at 23:59 (UTC+8), connections to cloud computers using the HDX protocol will no longer be supported. We will be transitioning to the self-developed Alibaba Cloud Workspace ASP protocol, which offers lower latency, higher security, and greater compatibility. This upgrade will affect all of your cloud computer instances that currently use the HDX protocol.

The Alibaba Cloud Workspace ASP protocol is a protocol purpose-built for cloud computers, featuring ultra-low latency, enhanced security, full 4K support, compatibility with all new cloud computer features, and broader peripheral support. It is suitable for office, design, development, graphics processing, video editing, and other mainstream cloud computer applications.

Recommended actions

Migrate your instances to the ASP protocol before January 30, 2026, 23:59 (UTC+8). After this deadline, instances that have not been migrated will no longer be accessible via the HDX protocol. You can restore access by migrating to the ASP protocol. For detailed instructions, please refer to our migration guide: Update a cloud computer, cloud computer pool, or image to an ASP-based one.
