:Overview of account sharing

This topic describes the features of account sharing, its use cases, and how to enable it.

What is account sharing?

Account sharing allows an enterprise administrator to manage and share assets across accounts within an enterprise. You must enable the Enterprise Account Center to use this feature.

After you enable the Enterprise Account Center, log on to the console and go to Expenses and Costs > Billing Account > Account Sharing to use the feature.

Enable account sharing

Account sharing is automatically enabled once you set up the Enterprise Account Center. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Complete enterprise real-name verification. .

  2. Enable the Enterprise Account Center. .

  3. Invite member accounts to your resource directory..

  4. Structure accounts into organizational units.

  5. Manage subaccounts via the resource directory.

Main features

Account sharing provides the following main features:

Unified account management

This feature lets you manage authorized accounts and their assets. You can perform the following actions:

  • Available balance: View the available balance of authorized accounts.

  • Credit limit: View and modify the credit limit of authorized accounts.

  • Low balance alert: View and modify low balance alerts for authorized accounts.

  • Fund transfers: Transfer and reclaim cash balances between accounts and view transfer records.

  • Account details: Access the details page of authorized accounts.

Equity asset sharing

Equity assets include savings plans, coupons, and reserved capacity that represent prepaid value or discounts. After enabling the Enterprise Account Center, you can share your enterprise's equity assets with subaccounts.

  • Supported sharable resources: The management account must share these assets with subaccounts via resource sharing. Subaccounts then gain access automatically.

  • Supported sharing scopes:

    • Share with accounts: The sharing scope is fixed to specific accounts and only changes if you manually adjust it.

    • Share with an organization: The sharing scope dynamically adjusts as accounts are added to or removed from the organizational unit.

  • Supported sharing methods:

    • Share by specific asset ID: Set a sharing scope for an individual asset, which can be shared with specific accounts or organizational units.

    • Set automatic sharing rules by asset type: New assets of a specific type are automatically shared according to your pre-configured rules.
