Server Migration Center:Subscribe to SMC task failure event notifications

Step 1: Create alert contacts and alert contact groups

Create alert contacts, then add them to a contact group to receive SMC task failure notifications.

1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

2. Create an alert contact.

   1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Alerts > Alert Contacts.

   2. On the Alert Contacts tab, click Create Alert Contact.

   3. In the Set Alert Contact panel, configure the necessary parameters for the alert contact.

      Configure the following key parameters. Keep defaults for others. Create an Alert Contact.

      Parameter	Description
      Name	The alert contact name. Must start with a letter, 2 to 40 characters. Supports letters, digits, periods (.), and underscores (_).
      Region for Alert Notification Service	The region for the alert notification service. Contact data such as names and email addresses is stored in the selected region.
      Mobile Phone	Only phone numbers with country code +86 support SMS alert notifications.
      Mailbox	The email address of the alert contact.
      Language of Alert Notifications	Defaults to Automatic. CloudMonitor selects the notification language based on your Alibaba Cloud account language.

   4. Verify the information and click Confirm.

   5. (Optional) Activate the email address.

      If you specify an email address, its status is Pending Activation by default. The contact must click the activation link in the email within 24 hours to receive alert notifications. Once activated, the email address appears in the contact list.

3. Create an alert contact group.

   1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Alerts > Alert Contacts.

   2. Click the Alert Contact Group tab.

   3. On the Alert Contact Group tab, click Create Alert Contact Group.

   4. In the Create Alert Contact Group panel, enter a group name and select the alert contacts to add.

   5. Click Confirm.

Step 2: Create a notification configuration policy

Create a policy that routes alerts to your contact group.

1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Event Center > Notification Configuration.

2. On the Notification Configuration page, click Create policy.

3. In the Create Policy panel, configure the necessary parameters for your notification policy.

   

   Configure the following key parameters. Keep defaults for others. Create a Notification Configuration Policy.

   Parameter	Description
   Name	The policy name.
   Comment	The policy description.
   Notification Settings	Select Set Notification Group Directly.
   Contact Group	Select the alert contact group.

4. Click OK.

Step 3: Create a subscription policy

Subscribe to SMC task failure events so CloudMonitor sends alerts to your contact group.

1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Event Center > Event Subscription.

   Note

   You can also create a subscription policy from the System Event menu as follows:

   1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Event Center > System Event.

   2. In the Welcome to the New Event Center section, click Create Now.

2. On the Subscription Policy tab, click Create Subscription Policy.

3. On the Create Subscription Policy page, configure the parameters for the subscription policy.

   Configure the following key parameters. Keep defaults for others. Create a Subscription Policy.

   

   Area	Parameter	Description
   Basic Information	Name	The policy name.
   	Comment	The policy description.
   Alert Subscription	Subscription Type	Select System Event.
   	Subscription Scope	Select Server Migration Center for Product. No other parameters need to be selected.
   Notification	Notification Settings	Select your notification policy.

4. Click Submit.

Step 4: View alert notifications

When an SMC migration error occurs, CloudMonitor sends an alert to your contacts.
