Delete custom images that you no longer need. Servers created from a deleted image continue to run normally, but you can no longer use that image to reset their operating systems.
Impacts of deletion
Before you delete a custom image, consider the following impacts:
OS reset becomes unavailable: After deletion, you cannot reset the operating systems of servers created from this image. To preserve this capability, keep the image.
Shared images must be unshared first: If the image is shared to Elastic Compute Service (ECS), unshare it before deletion. After you unshare the image, it can no longer be queried from the ECS console or API. To continue using the image in ECS, copy it to ECS before deletion. For more information, see Copy an image shared by Simple Application Server in the ECS console.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that you have:
Snapshots for the disks of the simple application server to allow disk rollback and data restoration if needed. For more information, see Create a snapshot and Roll back a disk based on a snapshot.
Procedure
Go to the Image page in the Simple Application Server console.
On the Custom Images tab, find the image and choose in the Actions column.
NoteTo identify which server the image belongs to, check the Image Source column for the server ID and name.
In the confirmation dialog box, complete the deletion:
If the image is not shared to ECS, click Confirm.
If the image is shared to ECS, select Unshare the image to ECS, and then click Confirm.
ImportantIf you still need the image in ECS, copy it before deletion. After unsharing, the image is no longer available in the ECS console or API. For more information, see Copy an image shared by Simple Application Server in the ECS console.
