Causes

  • If you do not restart the simple application server after you reset a password, the new password cannot take effect.

  • A third-party security software secures system files. The previous password cannot be changed.

  • You reset the password of a non-administrator user in the Simple Application Server console. The administrator usernames of simple application servers vary based on the operating systems of the servers.

    • The administrator username of Linux simple application servers is root.

    • The administrator username of Windows simple application servers is Administrator.

Solutions

To troubleshoot the issue, perform the following operations. To prevent data loss, we recommend that you create a disk snapshot for your simple application server before you perform high-risk operations such as data updates or server restarts. For more information, see Manage snapshots.

Solution 1: Restart the simple application server

After you reset a password for your simple application server, you must restart the server in the Simple Application Server console to allow the new password to take effect. For more information, see Set or reset the password of a server.

Solution 2: Uninstall the third-party security software

If a third-party security software is installed on your simple application server, the new password may not take effect. You must uninstall the third-party security software and then reset the password.

Solution 3: Use the rescue feature to reset the password of a non-administrator user

You cannot reset the password of a non-administrator user in the Simple Application Server console. If you want to reset the password of a non-administrator user within Linux simple application servers, use the rescue feature to reset the password. For more information, see Connect to a Linux server by using the rescue feature.
