The administrator can create multiple end users and grant access and launch permissions on specific products to the end users. This way, personnel management is separated from service management. The authorized end users can view products, launch products, and manage product instances.

Scenarios

Service Catalog allows end users to query and use products on which the end users are granted permissions, and manage product instances during the product instance lifecycles. This helps enterprises improve overall work efficiency and cope with their fast-growing business. If multiple teams of an enterprise need to manage Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances, the administrator can create a product portfolio, add the ECS products that meet security and compliance requirements to the product portfolio, and grant permissions to multiple personnel. In this case, the personnel can launch the ECS products, and update or terminate product instances. This simplifies the approval process and accelerates service delivery.

Product instance usage

You must be granted the permissions to manage Service Catalog by the administrator. For more information, see Grant permissions to an end user.

Then, you can perform the following steps to use a product instance:

  1. Launch a product.
  2. View the information about a product instance.
  3. Update a product instance or Terminate a product instance.
